HITT with Jump rope?

I've googled around but couldn't find any routine that implements HITT through jump skipping.

Do any of you know any good exercise routines I could do with the jump rope to achieve HITT?

I was thinking of something along the lines of:

3min warmup ( moderate speed )
1 min fast as i can
2 min moderate speed

30 second break. And just keep repeating until I do 15-20 minutes

Any ideas?

i think that should work somewhat.. or will definately be better then just jumping rope

dont be a lard a*s tho with the break lol

If im expected to go 1 minute as fast as i can, and then 2 minutes at a moderate speed im pretty sure ill be out of breath and will need some kind of short break

You'll have to take a break. If you jump rope for as hard as you can for 1-minute straight you may need a break right then. If you can do it straight thru it's not achieving the purpose of HIIT training. It's just hard rope-jumping.

Oh man, you were right I definetly needed some breaks.

Even when I tried to go 1 minute as fast as i can 30 seconds into it i needed a quick breath, kept going as fast as i can and then needed a breather for a minute. Felt like I was going to throw up, so i guess i did it somewhat right then

Anyways, since i'm trying to bulk up a little bit and gain some muscle, should i still do HITT jump rope? what about if i did it only twice a week?

hahaha

I was just going to say, soccer guy has no idea what he is talking about. i was also going to say, go get a rope and start jumpin- we'll see!! hahhhaa

here is a good drill. It will help develop mental focus and breath utlimately- but here ya go.

ATTEMPT to jump 3 full minutes at double speed. you shoudl hear that rope whippin some. When the rope stops, if it is less than 3 min, drop and do 25 pushups. Go until you either do the 3 minutes or you do 200 pushups.

once you can get the 3 minutes, take your shoes off and use a leather rope.

once you have that down, you are already macho man, but try and increase it 30% and go 4 minutes.

here is a link to me finishing a 3 min round at double speed.

a jump rope is "real man stuff!" good on you.

hahaha!!! that is funny--- the rope is kicking your butt dude!! give yourself a chance to get good at it. you are not going to shrivel up, and it will give you great forearms and a good grip too. Later you can get an ironman weighted rope.

Bro, I've been jump roping for almost 4 months
I started at 3 days a week for atleast 25 minutes, and when i became fit I did 6-7 days a week of medium-intense jump roping atleast 30 minutes a day, around 200 revolutions per minute(200 jump ropes per minute)

I've lost an estimated 43 pounds thanks to diet and jump roping

I also have a speed, leather, and weighted jump rope, so trust me you don't need to lecture me on jump roping

the reason I asked wether i should continue jump roping, was because since im trying to bulk up a bit it would negate my muscle gains

But thanks for the reply.

Oh and by the way, when you jump rope like you did in the video..try keeping your elbows as close to your body as possible..the closer to the body, the more wrist movement.

hahaha

Like i would know all that from your thread? or user name? or what?

i'm a jackassss dude and I aint lecturing you, i was trying to share a challenge with you and have fun....

i have never jumped 30 minutes in my life.

you superior jump ability, wth what you have now described, warrants my respect.

hahahaha

rope skipper!

haha yea sorry about the other reply, I consider myself an athletic jump roper so i got irritated when you thought i was some noob, but heh sorry.

But yea, I love jump roping nothing better than jump skipping in the mirror watching yourself sweat and your muscles flex and admire my sexy body.

hhaha

Its hard to jump rope with many reps at all because it gets caught between my feet. Jump rope with HIIT can be done, but a good jump rope is needed, so it won't get caught between your feet at all.

The jump rope never gets caught between my feet...its probably because your just a beginner at it, eventually youll get better

I remember the first serveral weeks i sucked at jump roping.
