Hills

I'm a new runner, mostly doing jog/walk for about an hour everyday on the side of the road. Along the route there are tall hills with a steep incline and I'm wondering if I walk up the hill every day would it build my backside or help slim it? Im trying to get smaller buns and thighs and I dont want to do anything that'll just make it bigger.

Also when going downhill, is it best just to walk instead of run it for joint reasons? Thanks for the help.

Sprint it! It will definitely work your legs & glutes. Do that on my jog up stairs. It's part of my HIIT routine. If you do that enough you won't need to jog or walk as long (which probably isn't doing much anyway).

If you're looking to burn fat you should do some high intensity training. Sprinting up those hills are a perfect place to start. Pump your arms, explode off the balls of your feet, and don't stop until you crest the hill. If you think you can settle down and keep jogging after the hills crests then go ahead.

Thanks for the advice! I did 5 hill sprints today and about 50 min of walking, is this good to repeat 2-3 times a week? Should I add some jogging in wth the walking if the previous day I did a walk/run/sprint routine, or is just walking good?
