I am about to try HIIT training for the first time. At the moment there is very little Cardio in my routine, and as much as I love lifting weights -it won't burn up my belly.
My question is regarding the running part itself, I was wondering if somebody could tell me if the following statement is true:
Is walking acceptable during the recovery stage? Or is this slack training? Considering I'm a novice and just starting out it would be favourable to me.

From AskMen.com :
give your maximum effort for 15 to 30 seconds, followed by a 2-minute recovery. You can walk during the recovery or you can just take it down to a very light jog
