HIIT - Help

I've been doing (trying) HIIT now on a treadmill for a few weeks. I have no clue if it's effective yet because I haven't weighed myself yet. My goal is to lose weight. I start out at 2kmph for the first minute and the second minute I go to 4kmph, from then on each minute I switch between 4kmph to 8kmph and back. By the end of the 8kmph minute I'm out of breath and I HAVE to go back down to 4 and by around 15 minutes I feel like dying. I do this for around 20 minutes.

Is this good enough for weight loss? I run mondays, wednesdays and fridays. On some of the off days I sometimes walk on incline. I have a feeling the part that will slow my weight loss is diet.

Oh and right now I'm about 80KG and 175cm tall.
