High Protein Diet

I wanna gain some muscle so I plan on going into a high protein diet.

to do that, what foods should I eat and what foods should I avoid. I am not good at determining the correct food cause when I look at the nutrition facts I see that most foods have some carbs. But I know that if I wanna go in a high protein diet I can't eat to much carbs.

So can anyone tell me how to read the nurtriton facts correctlly so I can determine what I need to eat and what I need to avoid.

thanks

specialk12, the minimum amount of protein most everyone agrees on is one gram per pound of bodyweight. some even say 1 gram per pound of lean bodyweight.

so if one weighs 150 pound, that would be 150 grams of protein. but dont discount carbs, they are important when lifting to add more muscle.

good protein choices are chicken, turkey, lean red meat, fish, cottage cheese, eggs, milk.

good carb choices are brown rice, sweet potatoes or yams, oats, veggies, beans, fruits and whole grain breads, cereals and pastas.

and dont forget about the importance of good fats like in oils, nuts, flax seed and natty peanut butter.

Don’t forget pork, I love a good pork loin steak, or thick cut pork chop. Pork is almost even with chicken when it comes to leanness. Couscous is also a good choice for carbs, it’s got a decent amount of protein in it. And its real easy to make, boil water, add couscous, remove from heat and let it sit for 5 min.
