Hi...

Well hi people, i'm new, i'm also a little shy because my currnet bodily condition... i'm not fat but i am kinda lacking chest muscle, so i wish to seek help, i got some dumbells that are working great they're about 3 kg but i still haven't seen much of a sign of differance, well i went to the health shop today and was immediately put down by a woman that i shouldn't do weights or buy the whey protein i was buying because "if your not big now you'll never be big" was her statement and went to claim that muscular guys are a huge turn off, question is really!? are all people so outright and derogatory when it comes to ammatuers? i just want to get bigger chest muscles and reveal my abs nothing more i'm not going to go into competitions or be like arny, is that such a bad thing to want to do?! i'll quit the essay now, please post me back with and suggestions,

LP, (by the way i'm 16)

hello :)

sorry you had that situation with an unqualified person. that probably sums up her view on life in general which is pretty sad and unfortunate for her

to grow, get bigger, stronger and make improvements you have to build upon what you're doing. meaning that eventually your body will get use to those dumbells and you will have to add more resistance. thats what is all about: to progessively overload the muscle with greater or a different kind of stress so it will respond.

just as important is nutrition. providing the body with the nutrients it needs on a daily basis for overall health and function. good foods eaten consistently during the day is key. :)

thanks good advice abear, what is the best thing to do when eating, is it better to train before or after you've eaten? i eat lots of fruit and lots of potato's and carrots, i don't like many of teh dark green vegetables but i eat what i can of them, what else would i need, i eat lots of meat but they tyend to be fatty, being the age i am i don't do my own food shopping and my mum and dad tend to make a joke out of me when i ask for "noi more jjaffa cakes... i'm addicted and will get fat..." they just laugh and i try to ask for more tyes of food but the usual "you'll get what your given" crap tend to be shouted at me, it's difficult, i feel really unconfident with doing this but i just want to ask a question to the ladies or to the men who know!!

Does weight training generally turn off women? or is there and increase in interest?

please reply thanks in advance LP

personally i feel its good to eat before and after you train. fuel the workout, replensish after. some disagree, but thats cool

i guess weight training and women is more of a personal opinion. i've had ppl in my life frown upon me trying to better myself, like it caused them problems. i'm proud to say they are no longer apart of my life. i supported them but they cant support me, what kind of friend is that. no thanks ;)

As to whether weight training is attractive to women, it depends mostly on which women you're looking to attract, and how seriously you take weightlifting. Some women don't like guys that weightlift for the same reason they don't like guys with nice cars. They think it signifies some sort of 'genital deficiency' or something. From my experience though, most women are attracted to guys who look good, which you will most likely accomplish by exercising the right way.

You lucked out dropping by this website if you're looking to get in shape. Take a look at the Sports Nutrition and Weightlifting boards to get yourself started. Most of the information you'll need to set up an effective workout routine can be found in there, and people will be happy to help you with most of the other questions you come across. You should always try to find an existing thread that can give you the information you're looking for though; it's frowned on to simply show up and ask for other people to give you all the answers you need so you don't have to do the research yourself.

Good luck, and welcome :)

Haha! Yeah, I think you coulda answered this question yourself Loren-Paul. Though, some women do like the emaciated Euro-model look. Different people, different tastes, of course.

thanks people, i'll look on those boards, so sorry for not researching,
