Hello all, new here (clearly). My name is Susan, I'm 25 years old and I'm going back to school the get my Master's degree in English this fall. A comedy of errors since moving in with my boyfriend about a year and a half ago have landed me at my heaviest weight since my first run at weight loss about 6 years ago. I'm 5'4" and currently weigh about 220lbs. I have been as low as 170, but things happen. I came here looking for a source of support and inspiration to not give up on myself, which I am very quick to do. My hope is to lose about 20lbs in my time left before starting graduate school and then continue the grind. I forsee needing that momentum because I'll be a full time student while maintaining a full time job.

I am looking forward to getting to know you all!

Thanks for reading.

You go girl, you can do this! A full time job, school and being healthy at the same time is not easy but not impossible. Absolutely possible. I am a full time student myself and a hard worker over summer vacation. My number one tip for you: incorporate as much exercise as you can in your daily routine. Ride a bike to school/work. Do not take the car/buss to do the grocery shopping. If it is way to far to walk all the way walk halfway. Good luck, you are the best!

Wow! You're so inspiring! My best advice to you is to not give up! Losing weight and keeping it off can be beyond frustrating at times but the less you get frustrated and the more determined you remain the better chances you have. Also -- try not to think about it so much! Just live your life and go about your day - just adding a bit of exercise and healthier choices. When you do get frustrated - don't go to the food! The less you think about it and just move forward and love life - the weight will just fly off!

I saw something in a magazine today that I wish I took a picture of! It's about the way you keep your refrigerator. Keep the veggies and healthy snacks on the too shelves so your eyes go straight to it. You can also keep them in a clear container to entice you! Protein - super important! Keep some deli turkey and pork in the fridge - it's even healthier and more lean than chicken! Next - keep the meats cheeses and fatty stuff in the draws where your eyes can't be drawn to them. Hopefully eventually you'll decide to eliminate them from your grocery shopping list all together!

That sounds really interesting. So much of the bad choices we make are all in our head. Do you remember what magazine?

I don't being that I'm not such an advid magazine reader :( I just happen to be in the doctors office. it was a popular women's magazine. Could have been people..? If it comes to me I'll let you know!
