Hello :) Im new here and I have always been struggling with my weight.

I'm curious if you all go with a high protein/low carb approach. Or if you watch calories.

How many calories do you eat ea. Day and lose weight?

High protein/low carb approach is a good one because a lot of the food people eat on a daily basis is loaded with carbs. So if you decide to go on low carbs, you will automatically cut out many of the calories you are eating on a daily basis. And a slight/moderate calorie deficit is your best bet to lose weight without many of the unnecessary emotional rollercoasters.

That being said, there are enough folks who cannot cope with too low carbs because they are very active individuals and actually would benefit a lot from keeping the carb intake moderate (i.e 50% -60 % of daily calories). If you are looking to maintain muscle, then a high protein diet is pretty much inevitable.

As always, it depends on what works best for you. But it's interesting to know that carbs are not even important to function normally (considering you are not an athlete)

As a guy (5´10 and 170 pounds) 1800-2000 calories per day is a fairly safe deficit (no extra cardio needed). Figure out your daily caloric needs with one of the many calorie calculators online and then subtract 20% of that number. This is an estimate as to how many calorie you should eat to lose weight.

Hi Kellie,

Great to meet you here. The first thing I'd recommend you start doing is walk 30 minutes day outside. Have it be one of the first things you do when you get up, like brushing your teeth; and do it every single day, including weekends. It'll help how you feel and will help to burn calories. That is a great start. ~ Allison
