hi people

hello, im Ed from south west England im a 24 yr old male around 6ft 5inches and 224lbs. i just thought as an introduction, i would share my expieriences in wieght loss and weight gain.

As a kid my parents always fed me well, my dad is italian so as you can imagine i was brought up on healthy foods like fish, beans, fresh pasta's, pork, etc. I suppose it all started to go wrong over my teenage yrs when i started to eat fried eggs in the morning, chips and burgers everyday for school dinner, donuts and coke in between, and a huge dinner when i got home. by the age of 17 I was 6ft3 and wieghing 17stone(don't know what that is in lbs). i had alot of body fat, after school i just laid around playing the playstation till dinner, then bed. my gut was huge and i had collected alot of fat around my pec and upper back area. my t!ts were almost as big as my old dear's! ;) . By 19 my waist size was 43inches and had developed a clearly visable second chin. The reality of my incredible bulk didny hit me until i saw myself in a family wedding photograph. Huge is an understatement, i didnt look right at all, and the amount of crap i was eating for all those yrs WAS going to see me into an early grave. So, i finally weighed in at 19stone, 6ft 5inches tall with a 44 waist at 22yrs of age. as you can imagine i was a big bloke. I dint know anything about BMI's and things back then, i can only estimate that i had at least 7stone of bodyfat covering a reasonably healthy body. i knew i had to do something.

At this point i didnt know much about weight loss and weight gain, and certainly didnt know that it had to be one or the other, not both diets at once. I just knew the basic healthy foods like vegtables fruit and meat. So one day i thought sod it, and started to change my eating habbits to one i thought would work.

In the morning i would skip breakfast, i just had a coffee at around 7am and nothing up until about 1pm, lunchtime at work where i'd have a cheese burger and a can of coke, then at 6pm would eat a huge plate of carrotts and peas with a small potato and a couple of peices of ham. I didnt have a clue about calorie intake back then, I just thought the less fat and food i eat means i lose fat, simple. I started to weigh myself every week and noticed that i had started to lose a few pounds every week. Now bearing in mind the size of me, my calorie intake should have been 2800 a day to retain lean mass, like an idiot i didnt realise any of this until later on at the time my calorie intake must have been around 1500 a day, and seeing those pounds falling off the scales meant i was doing something right. I didnt realise most of this wieght i was loosing was lean muscle mass! This carried on until may last yr when i suddenly realised that i was getting skinny, i weighed 160lbs at my lowest but still carried quite alot of body fat. My forearms were nothing like before. I was still quite fat but incredibly skinny underneath. So i started to do a little reaserch into how to lose weight through various websites and forums on the internet thats where i found out about proper weight loss dieting and wight gain dieting. Now i was faced with the predicament of needing to gain alot of muscle and at at the same time, lose alot of body fat.

So as from last yr up until now i regenerated my calorie intake to 2800-3000 a day of mostly complex carbs and protien including supplement shakes and creatine monohydrate powder and i have been compound lifting using a simple bench and two heavy dumbells working upper body on seperate days to lower body, with 40 mins cardio on the excersise bike 3 times a week. It really is and has been hard work for the last 7 months and i have managed to gain over 50 lbs in mass and a bit of body fat aswel (due to my cider drinking at weekends ;) ) am stating to see a real difference but my struggle stil has a way to go yet. Ideally i'd like to be 250lbs of mass with minimum fat. I think i'm on the right path as now i wiegh in at 224lbs my upper body and arms are toned and bulking up. as are my legs but i still have the remains of that back, pec, and belly fat (i can pinch about 2 inches of fat on those areas) still about 6 months to go i reckon. Thats my story up until now, i think i'm on the right track cheers for listenin guys.
