Hi people,
Im 31 years old and have been overweight since childhood mainly dueto leading a sedantary lifestyle.
I got married last year (December) and since October (when we got engaged) i began to try to loose weight.
I m 5'11 and was 110 Kgs when i started out.The progress was good and lost weight quite rapidly.
Now Am stuck at my present weight 83-86 Kgs for the last 3 and half month.
Haveread a lot about Weight Loss Plateau online and tried many suggestions but
they dont seem to work.I gain weight very rapidly ( about 1 kg in 2 days of eating 2-3 meals a day) so at present have been see-sawingbetween 86-83 kgs.
My goal is to reduce to 70 Kgs or below and have joined this forum to meet other people who mayhave facedthe same problem and overcame it.
Thanks n Regards
Goluman

Hi Goluman

Welcome to the forum! We have some of the nicest people here that will be gladd to help. Everyone hits plateaus from time to time, the main thing is don't let it frustate you or get you down. Keep the faith that just like one plus one equals two, if you are still eating less, getting the same amount of exercise and doing everything just like you started, there is no way that you can maintain level of weight. A lot of the time our bodies are readjusting and though there won't be a drop in pounds we are losing inches! That's why it is a good idea to measure as well as weigh. If you see the difference you are less apt to become discouraged:)

Hang in there! You have done an incredible job so far and you are going to succeed! How about it fellow members, anyone got some plateau breaking advice for Goluman? Keep up the good work G and more power to you!

Blessings

Hi, goluman! Welcome! Glad to have you with us! debbiezzzzzz is right ... don't let a plateau discourage you. When I hit a plateau, I usually try to mix up my exercising a bit. If I'm walking, then I try to bike for awhile. Or do extra weight exercises. I also like to research healthy recipes and try them out. Sometimes I'll really scrutinize exactly what I'm eating to make sure I'm not eating any "hidden" calories that I'm ignoring. :) Mostly, though, I just try to stick to plan and wait it out. After your body adjusts, I'm sure you'll start to go down again. Hang in there! Good luck!

Thanks for your kind words of encouragement.
I went on a binge yesterday but controlled myself(Thankfully).Today I have woken with a more positive outlook and have decided not to give up so easily after 8-9 months of gruelling struggle to loose the weight.
This place was exactly what i was looking for in motivation as my skinny friends dont seem to understand the terrible inner struggle to keep oneself motivated and say no to calories.I have often broken my diet regime on thier encouragement and have been going thru cycles of depression on gaining weight n subsequent loss of motivation,so thanks once again for your encouragement.

Friends mean well, but you're right ... they don't really understand what we obese people go through. They just can't because they've never been where we are. My friends love to go out to eat, and they always want me to go with them. I know they love me, and I love to be with them, so it's up to me to choose wisely whenever I eat out with them. It's what I struggle with the most because I LOVE food! I always will. But that doesn't mean I need to give into that inner voice that says to pig out every time I eat out. I've been trying to bring half of my meal home with me rather than eating it all in one sitting. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. But at least I try. Don't be too hard on either yourself or your friends. I'm sure they wouldn't hurt you for the world. They just don't understand. But if you learn to resist temptation, even a little, you will begin to feel good about yourself, and they will be so impressed when you start losing weight and looking good! Hang in there!
