Hi I'm New :)

Hello, I'm new here. I'm needing some support in my goal to lose 50lbs and I've been lurking here at the forums, and you all seem so nice, I thought I'd join.

I know I can do it if I start exercising but I don't have anyone to exercise with me, so it's hard. I have a really nice gym here at my apts and a lap pool, so I have no excuse. I don't have a problem eating good if I have to, I just get into slumps and don't do it. I also need to drink more water. I just need motivation I think. I know once I get started, I'll feel great.

Tomorrow starts my first day of my diet. I'm really looking forward to it!

Hope you all had a great weekend! Hugs!

Welcome to the site!

Welcome and good luck on your journey, horefully this site can provide some of the motivation you need to get kick started!

Welcome to the site Princess!

It is really hard to get and keep that motivation at first - its easier once you start to enjoy the fruits of your efforts - keep telling yourself that!

If you can - get rid of any junk foods now - and start to only buy healthy foods, to avoid the temptation of cheating.

Good luck with your journey - it will be worth it!

Hi Princess! You can do it, I believe in you!! Just remember...the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step! By joining this site....you're already there! Glad to have you aboard! :)

Wow thanks :)

Thank you all!! Yesterday I went to the store and bought tons of tuna, boneless-skinless chicken, fruits, veggies, water, etc. I started exercising at curves and did a diet about 3 years ago that was "no white flour carbs, and no sugar and lots of protiens" and I lost 18lbs and 22 inches (all around) in a month and a half. So I know it works for me. It's just getting started. Also, I just moved into my apt recently, so the only food I have in my cubbords is healthy :)

Any tips? How many calories should I be taking in a day? Again, thank you all so much!!! Hugs!

AWESOME start! I'm a Curves girl and I LOVE it! The grocery shopping sounds fantastic...actually reading it makes me hungry. :p

As far as how many calories you should be taking in, I'd suggest going into the "Tools" forum and calculating your BMR. I believe there's a calculator in there that tells you how many calories to take in to maintain your weight (based on your height, age and activity level) and how much if you want to loose.

Best of luck!! :)

Edit:
Actually here's the link to the calculator, it'll give you the breakdown after you plug in your info.

hello winter princess

I too am new to this and I want no need to lose about 50lbs as well!!! I would love it if we could do it together. I'm such a procrastinator!!! I'm very lazy. I'm going to try to find activities that are fun to do. I know I won't stick with it if it's not any fun!!! But if I like it it won't seem so bad. So I'll let ya know what I find. I live in a small town, so I don't have alot of choices. But neccessity is the mother of invention. I also love to cook, so it should be interesting to change my horribly bad for you, taste awesome recipes into healthy meals!! Your'e so lucky to have a gym and pool at your new apt!!!! I'm thinking of joing the one at the college here, and we do have a new pool in town. But i'm sure not about the bathing suit part!!!! :( I don't have any ideas to help us out yet, but I will. Tommorrow is a new day for us both!! TTFN.

I'm so excited to hear that I'm not the only newcomer. Hi everyone my name is Karen. I would like to get some recipes and cook more often and healthier. I have been eating out or at my job. Now I just feel guilty everytime I eat something fried or supersweet. I have been using some great recipes from Rachel Ray's web site. They are great if anyone wants to check it out.

I was browsing through the Recipe section here and found some GREAT ones. Go take a look when you get the chance. Also look in Malficent's diary, she has THE BEST recipes in there. If I were a man, I'd marry her!! ROTFLMBO :D Manaloa has some great ones too...that spinach lasagna...YUMMY!

Welcome, WinterPrincess.

Sounds like you are off to a good start. Good Luck to you. You can do it. Just don't get discouraged and keep plodding away at it.

I'm thrilled

I'm thrilled to be here - you all are so sweet! I'd love to make some new friends and get some support, as well as give support to you all. You all can do it! Just remember, it sucks now... but when you're clothes start fitting looser how good you'll feel!
