Hi, I'm new!

Hello,

I discovered this forum recently and found that people on here offer real inspiration and support, so instead of lurking I thought I'd register and say hi - hello!

I have been half heartedly increasing my fitness for a year and have so far lost 5 inches off waist by a combination of free weights and cross trainer. I'd like to lose another 7 kilos (only lost one so far!), get fit and tone up.

Up until three weeks ago I was targetting upper or lower body on alternate days and doing 3 or 4 days on my elliptical for 25 mins, but I got really tired and had to stop for three weeks. I feel better now and want to restart, any advice to avoid this happening again?

Hi redleopard.

Congratulations on your progress so far. 5 inches sounds like a lot more than a kilo, are you sure thats all you've lost? Post up your routine (ie. what you're doing for upper and lower body) and, more importantly, your diet and then we can try to offer some guidance.

Also, take a look around the existing threads. There is a lot of information there for the taking.

Welcome to the forum and good luck :)

Hello

Definitely only a kilo lost, I started a spreadsheet exactly a year ago with my weight and measurements and hadn't looked at it again until today and there it was 5 inches off waist, one off bust and hips half an inch on calves! I was getting really impressed with the change in my appearance as I have always been so lazy about fitness. I assumed the reason my weight is the same is because I have replaced fat with muscle.

I have been using a book called smart girls do dumbbells, but only for the correct form and technique as the planned workouts got on my nerves. So instead I'd do all the upper body ones one day then the lower body ones the next time.

I started out gradually with both the weights and cardio but came a cropper this month with the tiredness thing. I am going to go easy again, but I really have the taste for fitness now and would like to do more but safely.

I suspect you are right, it sounds like your body composition has changed. I have been the same weight for a while now but, I'm still dropping bodyfat.

I'm wondering if hte tiredness could be down to diet, how much and how often you eat and whether you're eating all the right things at the right times?

i hope you have fun with all of use wot do you use to keep fit
