Very happy to have found such a friendly and informative place to share!
Im 42, mom of 4, and 40 pounds overweight. I am 5'3'' and weigh in at 162. At my last doc visit in dec I weighed 166, so I suppose I should count the four pounds, though I lost it without really trying. Well Im trying Now!!
My goal is to weigh 120 by June. That is a safe 2 pounds a week, and I hope a realistic one. I will drink water, eat healthy(now lol), walk each day, and get plenty of sleep. The one thing I need to add is strength training, and am currently gathering up a little money for a small bench(I have a few weights, but cant find the bars!)
I am fighting very high BP as well, and diabetes runs in the family. My father instilled good exercise habits in me when I was a kid, and the running or walking comes naturally for me. I just get lazy sometimes. I was blessed with some really great calves, so when I get back to my walking, my calves have "muscle memory" and start showing results almost immediately. My bad place? MY STOMACH! I may have great, muscular legs, but all fat gravitates to my midsection, upper thighs, upper arms, and face. SO, I try to remember a neat visual I read online somewhere....
Think of your body as a roll of paper towels. When you first start to lose weight, or unroll the paper towels, its barely noticeable. BUT, once you get down towards the goal, like the towels, it becomes more and more apparent each time another layer is gone. Neat analogy, huh?
So, Im just now working on the first few layers. But have tons of determination! Its all about choices, and today I choose to lose!
