Hi to everyone here!

My name is Jonathan and I'm from Singapore, i'm 33yrs old and currently weigh at 90kg and my height is 1.7m. These days i can hardly stay focus for more than an hour on the job and i tend to feel very lethargic and tired easily and it gets worse especially when i'm a heavy smoker with a big appetite. Looking back at 6 - 7 yrs ago when i was weighing at btw 73 - 77kgs, i use to be able to play non - stop badminton and tennis for straight 4 hours and still able to go for a swim after that but these days i get extremely tired just after 20 - 30 minutes on the courts. Ever since, my wife gave birth to our first child since 2004, i have been working extra hours just to get some overtime pay in order to support my wife to stay home full time to look after our son and during the course of it, i'd have late supper at night simply because i was too hungry after a long day at work, imagine having to work from 8.30 am till about 10 - 11pm everyday except for Sundays. I have since stopped my supper eating habits about 2 months ago and have since lost about 5kgs and now weigh at 90kgs as mentioned, but i'm still finding it very hard to lose weight as i still have very strong cravings for can sodas and i tend to eat very large servings of rice and meat each meal.

I 'm hoping some of you can help by giving some tips and insights to how you guys have lost weight and in the process maybe suggest what sort of food i should avoid and start eating in order to lose weight.

Thanks for your help.

Welcome to the site,. you've come to the right place for support and encouragement...

One of the first things that most nutitionists will recommend is that you start a food journal, many of the online ones are great, as they do all the calculations for you (like www.sparkpeople.com, or www.fitday.com, or the countless others out there) and be totally honest with it... it's a good place to see how many calories a day you are getting and where those calories are going.

if you're eating a lot of rice, i'd imagine it's white rice, which isn't the healthiest for a person... if you can switch to brown rice or another grain, that might help you along..
