Hi all!

Life got tough a few years ago, and I gained lots of weight. After major surgery, layoff from job, breakup from major relationship, ill parent, etc., I sold my house, bought an RV, and hit the road to re-invent myself. It's now two years later. I'm still on the road, making a new life as an artist, and enjoying my life much more than I did in a cubicle. Finally, I've been motivated to drop the weight. I had over 50 pounds to lose to even get into the high end of the "healthy" weight range according to BMI and Weight Watchers. As of this week, I've lost half of it, and have dropped about two sizes.

I have two retired racing greyhounds, and three little Italian greyhounds (two of whom are also rescues). They're great traveling buddies, and make my journey feel easier. I paint, make jewelry and digital artwork, and am starting to attend outdoor art shows with my work.

I'm psyched to lose weight, but also discouraged sometimes by the remaining lumpiness. I'm glad to have found you all, and hope I can help you, and that you can help me!

Take care,

Well done on that weight loss so far Karen - keep it up - you are doing so well! Buying a husky puppy was pretty much what made me mend my ways - a healthy dog owner makes for healthier dogs. Sounds like you have plenty of four legged jogging partners with you there, waiting to take ...

Hi Karen,

Sounds like a lovely, peaceful existance. Congrats on all the weight you have lost. What do you do for exercise on the road like this, besides walk the dogs? Where are you right now? I want travel reports.

Thank you, all, for the warm welcome!!! Sorry for the slow responses ... I'm in Wisconsin, visiting with relatives who have no wireless signal. Tomorrow I head down to Chicago for an art show, and then on to Ohio, for another show.

For exercise, it's pretty much walking, and occasionally some dance or lifting in my rig. Minor stuff so far. After I had gained so much weight I started having trouble with my knees and feet. I'm only now getting down to a weight where I can walk without pain. So I'm increasing my distances. And hopefully I can get back to real hiking, as I get thinner! :) Thank goodness for dog parks and friends with fenced yards, or my dogs would be out of shape too. :)

From one traveler to another

Hello,
I thought I would say hello. My husband and I travel. We use to do the craft shows and Festivals. We traveled all over the country selling . I think it is really great that you got an RV and are doing your own thing. The life of an RVer can be so rewarding when you see the many different places of the country. If you ever get tired of doing the craft shows you can also try workamping. If you go to workamper.com you can review sesonal jobs all over the country. That is what my husband and I do now. The jobs offer you full hookup free and a wage. It is a fun way to travel and make money. I wish you luck in your travels. Good luck on your weightloss goal!

Goodbye for now!:)
Marie
