Hi ..from a determined newbie

Hi guys i've been browsing some fitness forums for the last few days now and decided this forum seems friendly, so here goes.

My name is paul, i'm from england and i'm 21 years 'old'.

I've finally decided to change my lifestyle to include alot of working out but i have never done this before. When i was in my teens i used to like combat sports and swimming. I used to swim for my city in tournaments etc so i'm hoping i can get back on track with my health and begin swimming as a hobbie again.

At the moment i'm very unfit, due to depression a few months ago and my time consuming career sitting in the office. But now i only work weekends, so i'm dedicating monday to friday for working out and pursuing my hobbies. I've quit smoking, which has also motivated me to get healthy again.

I currently have no exercise plan. So i'm hoping you guys can recommend a plan that will suit me based on your professional/experienced opinions.

I'm not sure wether to jump straight into weight training or should i focus on cardio and lowering my BF%?. I'm 6"2 and weigh in at 252lb. My main concern is getting healthy 1st, unless theres a way to do both in one exercise program safely?

Thanks.

Welcome to the forum bro..

1. Get on a strict nutritional diet.
2. Get a good workout regiment going.
3. Do cardio.

Pretty well sums it up man, I have lost 50 and still on my way down. There's a seat right next to me.. jump aboard!

Thanks, we have near the same goal. Except i will allow myself a bit extra weight because of my large frame size, and i'd like a fair bit of muscle :)

I would get on a diet work out do a lot of cardio and just stay as motivated as you can be . I lost all my weight doing a low fat diet which was very easy to follow since I could go out and eat just about any were.
