I stumbled upon this website when searching for weight loss stories and it's great to see such a supportive community. I suppose I'm looking for advice. So, in June last year I decided enough was enough, I was obese and I decided I needed to lose the weight (I was 14 and a half stone at the time, which at 5'6" is obese). Fast forward seven months almost to today and I've lost 5 stone coming down to 9 and a half stone. I feel amazing, but one of the things I've noticed is that I've got a lot of comments saying I'm looking like I'm wasting away. I know that this shouldn't bother me, but it kind of does and I wanted to know if any of you had experiences like this on your weight loss journeys.

If it's in the wrong forum, sorry.

Hi and welcome!
Have you been losing weight just through nutrition or have you been doing any exercise no if so what type? Strength training makes the biggest difference to how you look once the fat is gone as you can lose a lot of muscle when losing weight. I'll happily chip on with some advice here if needed.

Hey! Initially it was through dieting alone and reducing my calorie intake, but since November, I added running and hiking into the mix. I probably run three times a week (variable distances and sometimes on a treadmill) and hike once a week.

Hi,
good work on the weight loss (and exercise) by the way! The way to change your shape now ould be to incorporate strength training. Cardio etc is good exercise but if you want to change the way you look you need to build muscle through strength training. A good starting point would be to incorporate a few strength workouts a week including big compound movements, I.e presses, squats, rows, pulls ups (some variation of). These tend to be the best bang for your buck strength exercises and follow natural movements of your body so easier to get right and (typically) the type where you can move the most weight. The good news is that you tend to see the most progress in the first few months of strength training too!

I don't know how I ended up to this forum, but it is amazing. I found many categories and, a lot of experienced people who can help anyone to get a rid of any issue thanks for all.
a lot of people share great content here, I wonder how i didn't found it before as I've been looking for something like that for years
