Hi my names Mike and I'm a fat guy.

I'm looking for a community to help me stay motivated to lose weight. I'm currently 225 lbs my ideal weight is around 150 lbs. I've tried so many times to lose weight but always ended up putting it back on and then some. I have just started a couch to 5 km plan yesterday and I'm feeling pretty motivated. I must of attempted this plan probably more than 5 times and I've only ever completed it once, which was back in 2013. I then got myself running 10 km but then I reverted back to my old ways and put all the weight back on.

This time, I want to do more than lose weight, I want to completely change my lifestyle. In the past I would start start jogging and completely change my diet over night. I'd lose weight but within a few weeks I'd get fed up, quit and put the weight back on. I'm going to approach my weight loss differently this time. I'm not even considering changing my eating habits at all until the new year. I have no intention of standing on a scale or measuring my inches. My sole focus is on fitness until I feel as though I'm in a routine. Then I will slowly start to make small changes to my eating habits.

What other strategies do others employ when it comes to weight loss? How do you stay motivated and on track? I feel as though staying motivated is my biggest failure. I feel like one day I'm doing everything right then all of a sudden I'll wake up the next day and forget I'm supposed to be losing weight. What do you do to keep focused?

My strategy -- change it up constantly. Never get bored of your routines. Motivated? How better I'll look naked.

Seriously though you're 10 pounds lighter than I am. Believe in yourself. Can only change when you're ready. Sounds like you are so remember how great you looked when you lost it before! Stay the course, fight hard. Focus on yourself. Be accountable.

Hi Mike,

First off, good luck with your weight loss journey, it sounds like you have some experience with getting fit and healthy from your exerts in the past.

It also sounds like your underlying issue is motivation, you may be looking for external sources of motivation to keep you up and keep you going.

I often say that people live their lives in reverse, when it comes to motivations this is especially true. Real motivations come from within, you have to want something at your core to be able to drag yourself out of bed each day, get yourself out into the world and take it.

People look for external reasons to get out of bed instead, but these often end up being empty and hollow as they're not what you're really looking for.

My advice, find yourself, find what you want in life and the motivation will come like a rain that never ends(hip quote).

Human beings are walking, talking, infinite wellsprings of willpower, but only when you figure out how to tap into your own well.

Peace, brother, hope you find what you're looking for.
