Hey... I'm 14 and I hate the way I am. I used to be really fat, lost a few pounds, then I gained it back this fall/winter. I'm really upset and I hate myself for it. But I want to try again. Currently, I'm 5'2", around 133 pounds. I hope to lose 10 pounds by summer and a total of 25 pounds by August. My hopes for next year is to have lost a total of 30 pounds, bringing my goal weight for 2007 to be around 103 pounds. I hope I can do it, and I hope that you guys will help me? Thanks!

Oh ... to be young again!!! 14 is a tough age but you will get through it and the years following it.
Have you tried wieght lifting? 10 years ago I hurt my back and had to do stregth excercises for it. I started watching shows on TV about wieght lifting, can't remember them now, and was slowly going along with the shows. The more I did it, the more I liked it ( its still my favorite thing to do) before I even realized it, I had lost wieght, but even more inches! Things weren't as "jiggly" as they used to be either. My weight didn't change as much as my body did.
Lean muscle wieghs more then fat. It also boosts your metabolism. I am going through my own battle now. I am 5'5' and 182lbs. Over the past several years I have put on 50 lbs. I used to be 130-135 after having my second kid. I thought I was disgustingly fat and embarrassed to go anywhere. I look at the pictures of me then and realize just how nuts I was. I really believed my self worth was wrapped in the inches of my waistline.
Just only a year ago, I finally realized that wasn't true. People love and like me for me, not the size of my behind.
My reasons for losing the wieght now is my health. I had a scare, and now I am ready to tackle the extra load I've been carrying around.
Try doing some wieght lifting and get some cardio excercise. Its not all about the food. If I can help more in anyway, just let me know.

I don't weight lift because we don't have a weight set at home and my parents don't want to spend the money to go to a gym. I used to jump rope daily but lately I've been too lazy. I'm going to start that again today. Thanks for all your help!

Hi! Man, I wish i was 14 again! lol

Well hun what kind of diet are you on?? How are you eating? you need to really fill up on veggies and fruit. Throw in a little meat w/ your dinner.chicken and turkey are really good. Get excersizing, not only is it good for your body, its great for your self esteem!

GOod luck and let me know if you have any questions!!

Miss 14... you may have a much different situation than you are aware of. Are you diabetic or do you take any sort of medications?

you can improvise dumbells by filling 2 of those plastic 2 litre milk bottles (not sure what size they are in gallons and ounces) with sand then google for "dumbell exercizes" to do some weight training at home without a gym membership.

you don't have to go to a gym to lift weights. There is always something around the house you can use. like said in an earlier post, use empty bottles or jugs and fill them with water or sand, soup cans, laundry detergent, be creative. When I first did it, I did have a pair of 5 lb weights. That's all I used. Ask your parents if they would just buy you them. You don't need wiehgts for pushups, crunhes, squats or lunches and these are key excercises for muscles.
You can do it!!!!

Thanks for all the advice! I'll try that around the house weight lifting. I don't have diabetes and I don't take any medication. Right now I do 50 sit ups and 20 push ups a day... should I do more? It seems like it's not enough...

Absolutely! don't forget to do squats and lunges. The Bodypump class I take, you work a target muscle for the length of a song. On the "squat track" , by the time the song is over you have done over a hundred squats and your legs are screaming.
Don't forget to watch what you are eating and drink lots and lots of water!
You go girl!!!

Hi hate it all39,

I am also 5'2 and I always found 103 was way toooo thin for me. I always felt best between 122-125. I wanted to have some kind of figure instead of being skin and bones, if you know what i mean. If you work out you will look great with that 10lb weight loss. Lean, well trimmed muscles are more attractive than skin and bones - ask any guy... Good luck sweetie and remember some of those skinny skinny girls have no personality. It is always good to be kind and humble at any weight.

Can you do babysitting or something to earn some extra money? You could go and buy a workout tape next time you and your parents go to the store. Or, I would even be happy to send you one. I would really like see "hate it all39" to change to "lovin it all39" :D
