Hey everyone my name is Mary and I am 19 with 2 beautiful girls ages 3 and 1. I have been married for two years. Well here is a little about me. I am 5'6" and before kids i was a 126lbs size5. After my first daughter i gained about 15 pounds but then i started to blow up and i went to 180. I started working out and i lost 40lbs. Then i found out i was pregnant with my second daughter. After her i weighed about 175, and again i blew myself up to 205. Iwas feeling really uncomfortable and i started to go on a daily jogg. I lost 20 pounds within the first 2 weeks. Then my motivation stopeed and i gained 10 back. I have been working on try to keep my weight down, I called my mom and asked her if she would keep track of my weight monthly she agreed. I had my first weigh in on monday August 30. I came in at 190lbs exactly  . My weight is well porportioned so my family was very shocked. I started myself on a 1200 calorie a day diet and i jogg for a half hour every other day and the days in between i ride my excercise bike for 20 minutes. I weighed myself today and i weighed 187lbs. I was shocked. I want to lose weight because i am a very shy person and being overweight just makes it worse for me. I am also very uncomfortable with myself. My family has a history of bad knees and if i keep this weight on then i know it will most likely progress faster. Thanks for reading my looong story. I hope to meet a lot of people that are trying to overcome their weight. I want to be able to support and motivate people because i know thats what i need. Bye everyone.

Mary :)

Hi Mary!

I was reading your post and noticed you said you had bad kness, me too!! I've had 3 knee surgeries 2 for baseball 1 for football in college then put on weight. I would suggest doing something low impact for your cardio, jogging puts big time wear on your knees. I use an elliptical trainer, kinda of pricey but totally worth it and it will save your knees. Also noticed you said you lost your motivation after losing 20 pounds in 2 weeks!!!! How the heck did you manage to do that???? You worked pretty hard to lose 40 pounds the first time and then were well on your way to losing more the 2nd time...just think about what you accomplished in the past, you did it before right? you can certainly do it again! good luck to ya.. I know you can do it!

FITSKI In reply to your message. I could tell I inherited the knees because after about 2 weeks of jogging, my knees start to hurt to the point were i can walk only. And I loss motivation because my husband no longer wanted to jog with me, I felt a lot more support knowing that he was right there with me making me run. Thanks for your motivating reply. I really needed that. Today is my day to go jogging and my muscles are sore and I don't feel like going but I need to push myself. Thanks for being so kind!!! Mary

HI Mary,

welcome to the forum.
Like in a previous post somewhere, I have to agree with Fitski. If you have a history of bad knees, you should try and find a low impact cardio. Try walking briskly rather than jogging or - if you can...invest in an elliptical trainer. That way you won't put any more strain on your knees. You have already accomplished a lot in the past....if your husband doesn't exercise with you, and you need someone with you fo motivation, try and find a friend who will walk with you. Swimming is also good exercise, but not everybody likes it.
Good Luck!!! You can do it again!!

Lisa,
I am going to try to be less hard on myself this time around. I was jogging a mile and a half a day and i think that is what brought on my pain in the knees. Now i am doing a mile every other day. I am trying to see how it works out. I love to swim when i get a chance to go to my parents house i will go swimming for hours at a time. My husband is refinancing so we can get a pool in our back yard, so i am trying to convince him to get me an elliptical trainer :p . Thanks for the input.!!

Mary

Mary, everthing takes time, keep moving, walking, any activity, shopping and strolling with the kids is good exercise, you will be okay, it just takes time. Eat healthy.

Hi Mary.

You sound very determined...and that is a good thing. From reading your posts I can tell you have a strong will and will eventually accomplish your goal. Good luck, it won't be easy but it WILL get easier!
I jog now but I also have bad knees. I have cut my jogging days in half and (on my Doc's suggestion) started rollarblading to supplement. It is a great cardio workout and low impact as well. Also when I jog I usually run through the park where there is a dirt path to cut down on the impact as opposed to the street or paved path.
Again- Good Luck to you a strong willed woman as yourself should have no issues reaching her goal.
