Hey everybody!

I thought I'd squeeze through the door and introduce myself. I’m 27 years old, 6 feet tall and 300 pounds. Care to wrestle? ;)

My best friend got married a few weeks back and I just saw the wedding pictures a few days ago. I still can’t believe that’s me in those pictures. I’ve heard that a lot of heavy people have a distorted self image, and thus they see themselves as being fatter than they truly are. Well, I guess I had the opposite effect going. I knew I was fat, but when I looked in the mirror I saw the same guy I saw 50 pounds ago. Sure, the pants sizes were going up and old belts were being thrown away, but it didn’t really hit me until I saw those pictures. Wow. Just wow! I've struggled with weight loss most of my life, and although I've managed to win a few battles I'm clearly losing the war.

How did it come to this? Well, during my senior year of high school I managed to drop my weight from a high of 215 to a low of 170 pounds, but upon graduating college four years later I'd bulked up to about 230. That’s what a good 4 year college will get you; an education and 60 pounds of beer “muscle”.

After school I found a great job, but without a lot of time on my hands I skipped exercise and got most of my calories from fast food, take-out and delivery. Four years of that put me at 265. Eventually I left my job to persue a greater calling, but a long stint of unemployment has turned me into a pretty regular drinker… a drinker who still enjoys his fast food, delivery and take-out. The calories just keep on coming!

So now I’ve hit the big Three Zero Zero. That number plus those wedding pictures has knocked some sense into my chubby noggin. It’s time to drop some pounds and find a healthy lifestyle that I can stick to and enjoy. I guess my goal is to drop 100 pounds. For a man of my build 200 would be a good weight.

A few years ago I used an online forum to help me quit smoking. Having a place to go and someone to talk to when I had those mad cravings was a life saver. So here I am to apply that same winning method to my weight loss goals.

Here’s hoping!

P.S. If you read all of this you get a cookie. It’s a paper thin sugar free cookie but a cookie none the less. ;)

Hey, where's my cookie? :D

Nice to meet you! I'm sure you can do this, you have the right attitude and determination.

It feels weird to say welcome, because I just joined about half an hour ago myself, but welcome. ;)

yes, welcome. I'm actually pretty mad at my body. Many of us put a lot of work into getting in shape in high school and college (when we are generally the most active in our lives - fast metabolism and all), and then when we get into our work stage, the body starts slowing down ... just when we need it to speed up ... STUPID BODY!

Welcome aboard...Im glad you came here..this site has helped me..or more so, the people here have helped me. I look forward to your posts!
