Hey Evo

I was hoping to keep this a secret, but Tony is forcing me to come clean. I have found the secret to a big squat number=3 boxes of granola bars a day.

I have a basketball athlete named Jordan whom I'm working with on the side to get his vert. leap up and get stronger. Basically he wants to dunk and he can touch rim now. So we got him on your basic box squat, RDLs, step ups, etc etc

The kid is in 8th grade and has never touched a weight until about 5-6 weeks ago. We start him off with the bar to get his form down. Over the course of 2ish weeks he has worked up to 275ish for a triple. After a month, he decided he wanted to really push it and he hits 315 for 5. On testing him at the 6 week mark, the kid hits 365 for 5.

I was absolutely ecstatic. He had no idea just what an accomplishment it is to hit that kind of number in a 6 week time span. He smiles and says something like "well, coach, I just need to eat more granola bars."

Now Jordan has been walking around since he started lifting and I gave him the talk about eating more and he's been eating these damned granola bars every day every time I see him. I finally ask him how many of those things he eats. He laughs and says 3 boxes a day.

So there you go...3 boxes a day of granola bars and your squat will go up drastically in six weeks.

Huh.... I thought everyone knew that.

It works with General Tso's Chicken Also. :D

I'm sure it's really fun to work with a kind like that.

that's insane..

I remember when I was in the 10th grade I squatted 345 in weight training class when the coach was testing our maxes.

He didn't make us go down for a full squat though... I barely bent my legs at all.

Is this kid doing a full parallel squat? (90 degree angle)

That's about the only Chinese food I like. It's funn you mention that. Yeah...the 3 basketball players I'm working with are ultra cool to work with because they are so driven to improve.

Now my soccer team is a bit different. They do a lot of whining and squirming when they don't have a soccer ball at their feet.
