Alright, so where to begin...My whole life I've always been the "fat one"; however, that never really stopped me from anything until recently (when I hit about 18). At the time I was going to college and hanging out with friends like, mostly, everyone else my age. One day my grandmother had a stroke and that changed everything. I dropped out of college to take care of her and stopped hanging out with my friends so I could focus on working and just making sure she had what she needed. I'm now 21 and she's doing a lot better, but my waistline no so much. I've finally gotten fed up of being this way and I want to be healthier. I'm about 5'7 and weigh approx. 270. I'm hoping to get down to about 150 and see how things go when I get there. For now that's my long-term goal. For the short-term goal I would like to get down to 200. Yes, I know I'll still be big at that point, but you have to celebrate the small victories as well.

Welcome to the forum! Props to you for stepping up and taking care of your Grandma. My dad had a stroke when I was a teenager, so I know that's a rough road. I'm glad she's doing better!

200 is a great short term goal. A lot of times its better to think about short term goals, as they're less overwhelming. I know they are for me anyway. lol! I always recommend starting a journal in the diary section and/or joining a challenge. We have a new Christmas one that just started. Good luck on your weight loss journey! :)
