Hey All! Looking for alternatives

Hey there, everyone!! I have just finished doing a year of hardcore workouts at the gym while cutting my calories down to 1,600 a day and for some reason, I just can't lose the weight that I would like. The problems that I am facing are:

1: I am poor and being able to afford healthier foods is incredibly difficult.

2: I have a disability (I cannot bend my left leg). My back is partially messed up, so doing 7-10 mile hikes is agonizing and I also can't ride bikes or run, so I am incredibly limited.

3: As a result of having Depression, I have been eating more and haven't worked out as much. It's also because the gym is farther out and would like to start out at home.

4: My Wife isn't supportive. She eats a lot of junk food and always tells me that my diet/workout won't "last long" whenever I start the process.

For someone in my condition, I am here looking for all kinds of suggestions as to what I can do in hopes of flattening my chest & stomach. I look forward to getting to know all of you and working hard at losing weight!

I hear what you're saying man! Food choice is a huge matter. It is like driving a Lamborghini with an engine full of low grade oil. It may look like a nicer car, but it runs like garbage. Better food choices will naturally alleviate the depression as well. Be the example for her. She wants to see that, even if she doesn't say it! :)
If you don't mind me asking, what does your daily diet typically consist of?

Thanks for the motivation!!!

My diet is a wreck. I eat Raisin Bran for Breakfast, or big scoops of Vanilla Greek Yogurt, Spinach Salad with a hard-boiled egg and some cheese (Balsamic Vinaigrette dressing), or PB & J and some salsa and chips for Lunch, and it's up in the air for Dinner. The problem is, my Wife will ALWAYS eat out. There is this local BBQ place and I have been trying to cut Red Meat, but Pulled Pork, Smoked Beans & Baked Mac & Cheese is so good. I'm always low on groceries since I can't afford much (Retail budget and going back to school), so cooking hearty meals isn't really easy. I am going to buy a tiny pan this week to force myself to eat eggs more with peppers to re-do my Breakfast. I have no idea what to do for cheap and healthy Lunches. Any suggestions are welcomed. :D

That sounds like City BBQ?! Am I right! Hah! I personally cut out all red meat when I began my journey, and that alone helped a ton! To be blunt, and I think you deserve that, cut out the breakfast cereals. The empty carbs in those turn straight in to fat. Add the sugar, which turns in to fat as well, and it's no good news! :)
One thing to keep in mind, 4 grams of sugar is equal to 1 teaspoon. Keep a sharp eye on every label. You will be amazed how much sugar sneaks in!
How much water do you drink per day?

It's a place called, "The Que" here in Sandusky, Ohio. It definitely has the best food in the city (All meat is smoked daily). I have decided to buy a little iron skillet for cooking an egg in the morning while having a little yogurt on the side. For Lunch, I will slice up an apple and mix that with something big, but simple, yet, I have no idea what that may be. For Dinner, I am considering buying a huge package of fresh chicken (6 breasts) and eating one every night with some Broccoli and possibly Asparagus. Something incredibly simple, yet, cheap. Are those good ideas?

In regards to water, I feel that I do not drink enough. Possibly around 6 or 7 glasses a day. The glasses are more-so mugs, so probably not an accurate measurement.

Drink half your body weight in ounces. For me, that is about a gallon. Staying hydrated will eliminate water weight gain all together. I live in Columbus, so we are neighbors man! Those food choices are good! If you have Netflix, I highly recommend watching Hungry For Change! That documentary changed my life!

Neighbors? That is awesome!! I love Columbus. I just got my Netflix subscription, so I will start watching that right away!!

In regards to my suggestions for food in the previous post, were they good?
