Hi all. I started last Monday and its my first week.. I have been in the battle of the bulge almost all my life and this is one more try.... Let's see..... I'm having 2 shakes in the day and 2 salad snacks(no dressing) and a light evening meal (no fats or carbs) I am on the supplements too with every meal. I've got around 35 Kgs to lose and i ain't different to any of u here.. I'm really struggling and looking for some support. The question i really have is does herbalife really work..? I've been told u can lose around 4kgs a month.. sounds too good to be true eh..? I want to talk to people using herbalife.? I don't know. 1st week and I have lost about 750gms only. Is that ok? Are we allowed any off days. Do I cut down on this salad snacks? Are we allowed any alcohol? Sorry I am new here and have lots of questions.

um..I'll overlook the first part of this since it is the exact same thing you said in your other post except for the last two questions. You won't find many on the forum using that stuff. It's not something we encourage here because we encourage doing it without crap like that. However, again, this is your choice so I hope someone does have the answers..but I'm wondering why you think you need this expensive program to lose weight? You can do this without it. We can help encourage you towards that goal.

But even if you don't, I can chime in with one answer. Just remember that Alcohol is still calories. It adds up so if you decide you wish to drink, you need to add those calories into your total intake. If you are serious about losing weight, drop the drinks.

hi there.
I've been on the Herbalife diet for about a month now..........Was just as sceptic as you are when I started. As stated above: it's quite expensive! Their support is amazing and the distributor is your go-to person for queries on the products, or any other issue you might have. Well, expensive or not..........I've lost more than 8kg's in the +/-6weeks I've been on the products and is in the stage of maintaining it. always keep your goal weight in mind when cravings start. the best way to go, is to have a support system of people you know who use the products. keep it up and you'll see results in good time. also don't forget exercising, even in baby-steps like walking.........

There are some major problems with gimick diets like herba-life and 10-day cleanse, etc. etc. etc.... they don't teach you how to live in the real world. If you are someone that had surgery, and were laid up in bed for 3 months, and gained weight for the first time in your life, great. This kind of diet is spot-on, because you already know how to eat... but more likely you are like many of us, with either a portion control problem, or a lack of knowledge about what is healthy to eat. When you start trading food for pills/ shakes/ small meal bars, it does not provide the same gratification as eating, thus making your diet more extreme on the mind, and thus harder to maintain...say you lose the weight, then what? When you stop paying hundreds/ month for the pills, then what have you learned about eating right? Because if you still are not eating right, then the weight will come right back.

There was a study the LA Times referenced yesterday, about "yo-yo dieting", and the lasting implications it can have on the body:

This is another reason that diets like herbalife are so bad, because not only are they expensive, they have a higher rate of relapse over so called "lifestyle" diets like South Beach that enhance understanding of food in general.

There is a book out there called Intuitive Eating, and it's like the "anti-diet" book, another member here suggested it. It was really good.

You can try the herba-life thing, but please also do everything you can in order to understand why you became overweight to begin with. If you don't change your lifestyle, this will just be one big bill that leads to nothing great...

In life, everyone has a choice, and we all have different tastes and preferences..........the problem is not the product or the product company or the distributor of the product. The problem is attitude...........if we are to shoot down every choice someone makes in their journey, doesn't that make us want people to follow OUR advice and methods? If the person chooses to use a product, no matter how expensive, it is their choice and we simply have to live with it, after all, it's their money to use which ever way they prefer to and if they lose weight in the process.........good for them, if they put it all back on........they need support, because few people keep the weight off, as found in many studies, whatever way they choose to address the weight issues. I'm here for the long run and intend on providing my shoulder for comfort and being open to advice and suggestions to help others...........

Um..no. The problem IS the product. Now I am convinced that you are selling this stuff cause you just sounded like a salesman.

Herbalife is a joke, a very expensive prank. Just because I am a mod doesn't mean I won't express my opinion here. You are right, it is the user's choice but when you choose to come on here and try to sugarcoat something like this, I will shoot it down. You don't need this crap. No one does. If you look at the product ingredients, it is mostly inactive ingredients..the active ones are kinda a joke as well. It is just an expensive bill wrapped up in false hope.

Why pay for this? You can do every part of this FREE. Instead of having someone who is just qualified enough to get dupped into selling this stuff tell you how to lose weight (and lose it the wrong way), Do some research. LEARN about calories and portions. LEARN about what you eat and how you move. APPLY that knowledge and SAVE your damn money!

Support comes from people who care about you...not your wallet.

I did a diet like that over 10 yrs ago. Nutrisystem. I lost all the weight I wanted but did not eat regular food. Once I reached my goal I put the weight back on very quickly as missing regular food was too much for me.

I think Herbalife will lead you down the same path.

Exactly, I don't know anybody that has done this that hasn't ended up fatter than before. This and other gimmicky weight loss programmes teach you nothing about how to eat healthily and keep the weight off long term.

From my experience I don't see a point of buying all those special diet because of the longterm effect and gaining back the weight. Instant gratification is one of our major problem we want results fast see it fast lose it fast and advertisers enjoy and like that that they can make money $$$ out of it. Like the majority of the people here who already realize that removing that instant gratification concept
In your head. I have tremendous respect for them because it's something really difficult but rewarding at the longterm

Its working for me !!

I just a regular Joe who has been about 25 pounds overweight for the past 10years. I have a good working knowledge on diet and exercise, and how to lift weights properly and cardio. However my appetite was killing me in my attempts to lose weight. However I have been losing pounds steadily since starting Herbalife quick start diet program. (You know the regiement). I am also moderately exercising.
The best thing for me is its allowing my stomach to shrink some. I'm not overstuffing myself anymore cuz I have replaced breakfast and lunch with my shakes. I am learning now to eat less.

So put me on the positive side.. yes this plan works.

Everyone stop bitching and complaing and blaming.

Mick

Glad it's working for you. Just don't push it onto other people--It's not something that the majority of users on here support.

Your stomach doesn't actually 'shrink' by a measurable margin....that's just a very old myth.

And just because you think it works for you, it doesn't mean it works for everybody, or is a good program.

For me, any program that requires a) paying for it and b) replaces real food with any kind of substitute is useless, and solely created to make money of it. And yes, that includes places like Weight Watchers etc.

I mean, you're not going around and telling people to take speed either, do you? It works brilliant for weight loss, but that doesn't mean that anybody should do it.

I use and sell the Herbalife products...everyone has said pretty much the right things in the since if you are using the product as a quick way to loose weight...than yes you probably will not be happy with the end result. That is the fact with any products that you decide to use. If Herbalife is the tool you are using to make a lifestyle change than it will give you the long term results that you are looking to gain. The overall thought process should be to make sure you see what you're putting in your body and how it is effecting your body. Once you understand the process than you should be prepared to make the proper decisions in the future of your weight management process.

If you are using Herbalife/or any other product as a weight loss gimmick then the product is not for you. It is a lifestyle changing tool that should be used to better your life.

I used to work for herbalife as a distributer. I been on their shakes they barley do anything. i wouldnt recommend them..sorry!
