Sport Helping out a friend...

Sport Fitness
I have a friend who INSISTS on starving herself to lose weight. She obviously hasn't seen results but won't listen to me when i try to help her out.

Does anyone have any ideas on how i can explain to her (better than i already have tried )that what she is doing is not going to work, and also unhealthy?

*MOVED* to the Diet & Nutrition section.

Tell her to sign up here and we will help her out.

exactly. otherwise she'll need to go see a nutritionist and pay them $50-$100, but she may only listen to a 'professional' so it may come to that no matter what.

we can attempt to give her the tools and knowledge, but we can't force her to change.

one thing worth telling/showing her, is have her sign up on and track her calories for a few days. if they're indeed as low as you imply, let her know that comatose patients receive more than 1,000 calories a day via IV, just to keep them alive. then point out the fact that she's slightly more active than a coma patient.

It takes a lot for a person to change his/her beliefs. I would recommend her to a professional, either a doctor or nutritionist.

Thanks a lot... I think she's starting to see what i'm explaining to her. I'll see if i can get her to sign up on here so she can hear it from other people.

She should definitely go to a specialist and get some valuable advices on how to lose weight in a balanced way. Signing up would help too.
Pressure can be bad, but sometimes is the only way.

I hope it doesn’t take ruining her fertility or other healthy problems as a wake up call…
