Help

Hi All,

I am sending out a bit of a SOS here to see if anyone can recommend something.

My application for becoming a police officer in Australia has been successful and I am due to complete the fitness assessment this Saturday (Yes, the 14th January).

Since it was a quick application process, on the polices part, there is two exercises I am struggling with being:

- unaided sit ups. I can do sit ups when someone is standing on my feet, however when your legs are at 90 degree angle and you need to do it yourself, I cant do 1.

- running. I run for about 400 metres and I am buggered. I need to complete the beep test.

So overall, I am just wondering if anyone can recommend some form of crash / quick fitness reigm or what foods I should eat, just to give me maximum potential. Any supplements I can take?

I know I am going to struggle but just really seeking andy constructive recommendations that may give me a bit of a chance.

Cheers - Benno

Honestly, six days is nowhere near enough time to make any significant physiological changes to your body. You may be able to work on the sit-ups a little bit, as that could just be a lack of muscle recruitment. Overdoing it with working out your abs won't help though. The most you can do is trying to do sit ups a couple times per day to attempt to increase your muscle activation.

For the running, however, you need a lot more time to increase your endurance. This issue isn't about just your muscles, but about your entire cardiovascular system, and there's really no crash-training you can do to improve that. If anything, try jogging for at least a kilometer or two every day or so, but other than that, I can't really help you.

Hi mate,

Thanks for your reply.

To be honest, your reply was no suprise and I knew it was too late. However , I will just continue doing training till 2 days before the assessment and then go right into it.

Fingers are crossed and come on body!!! lol

Cheers

Good luck to you! You never know, sometimes a bit of urgency and adrenaline rush is enough to push you through to the end at the last moment.
