I just need help and advice. I am 5'4 and weight about 160. I don't think anyone would ever look at me and call me fat, but I have a lot of belly and back fat. My arms and legs are pretty toned, but I'm just thick, and not necessarily in a good way, around my mid section. I was 135 in high school while playing sports and since then my body has just gotten grosser and grosser, and I've become more and more unhappy. I'm sure it started with college but at this point I need to do something about it and losing 8 pounds after a month and then gaining it back and starting over again is getting old. Just working out or just eating healthy doesn't work for me.. I have to do at least a little bit of both. But I can usually only do it for about a month before I get burned out and give up. I have been working out and eating healthy for 2 weeks and I've lost about 3.5 pounds, but I feel like weight should be falling off faster, and I know I'm not regimented enough. I miss running so I started the C25K program, and so far I'm happy with it.. but so far I feel like I should be seeing more results. And when I do lose weight, I never see it come off my midsection, I always see it in my arms and legs where I don't even really need it.. I don't get it. I'm hoping someone can just give me some insight.

losing weight and building muscle takes time. we cannot expect instant gratification. you've lost 3.5 pounds in two weeks and that is great!! you have to be patient with this or like you've said, you'll just give up again. it takes time and effort to achieve goals, no matter what they are. fitness is no exception. as far as where you see results first, that is determined by genetics. we all lose from different areas as different rates. since your belly is your trouble spot, its going to be the last to go but if you are patient...you will see results. you've got to hang in there and keep working hard. there are many stickies around here about nutirtion, if you think those would be helpful.

Just take it one day at a time.

also I know with me I usually carb up/go out to eat on saturday. So maybe keeping one day a week where you can be less strict on your diet is a good idea. (still keep in mind what you're eating though)

Also,I find if I stay busy it's so much easier to stick to my diet/routine. good luck
