Hi,

I am new to this board and I really need some advice. I stopped eating meat about a year ago for humane reasons. I don't refer to myself as a vegetarian because I do eat fish, cheese and eggs. But I find that without meat my carbs are so much higher and I don't even know where to begin to loose weight. I have had success with weight watchers and atkins but with not eating meat it is harder.

Someone suggested having a protien drink for breakfast and lunch with fruit snacks in between and then a reasonable dinner. Not slim fast but a real protien supplement from the health food store mixed with milk.

Will this work? I feel awful, I am tired all the time and I know I should excersise but I am exhausted by the time I get home from work and I cannot afford a gym.

Any tips would be great.

I understand your reasons for not eating meat. My grandfather worked in slaughterhouses many years ago, and I know that the process is not humane to these animals in any way. So I'll be blunt about my views here. You need to be getting protein from meats/fish, and being a vegetarian does not provide a balanced, or necessarily even healthy, diet. Have you noticed how many vegetarians are overweight? Alot. I would encourage you to have some chicken, if you are not able to have enough fish. The chicken slaughtering process is fairly humane and painless to the animal, unlike that of beef and especially pork. My grandpa has told me, if most people saw how their food was made, they would never eat again. And its true. But if you don't eat you will die. So once you recover from the nausea of reading this post, eat up and be healthy :)
 
Hey..if u really want to lose wt, I might suggest u try Herbalife. It's not a wt loss prog or wt loss pdt. I love oatmeal mixed with Chocolate Whey Protein powder. Mix the Whey in after oatmeal is cooked. It is awesome.

1 cup of oatmeal and 1.5 scoops of Whey

Try it. Can get it at Walmart, GNC, Target
