Help With Vertical

I was told that if i jumped rope for 20 minutes every day adding 1 pound of weight to my backpack( which i am wearing while jumping rope) every week that in 1 month i will increase my vert by 4-8 inches is this true? Also what would be more effective doing 500 calf raises every day or jumping rope 20 minutes every day?
Please help,
thanks

It would help a little, but if you want to increase your vertical you should focus more on squats, lunges, deadlifts, and if you really want to increase it do plyometrics.

i am already doing air alert i was just looking to get a little bit more inches(i'm about 6 away from the rim). Also how mnay inches do u think i would get by doing:
500 calf raises a day
20 minutes of jumping rope a day

What the heck is air alert??

Jumping rope can supplement you putting more power in certain muscle groups in your kinetic chain. One thing for sure, understand the mechanics behind a proper jump and squat (which are pretty similar). Understand how to prevent yourself from "bleeding energy" from your joints.

500 calf raises a day will give you sore calves.....that is the only certain thing anyone can say.
jumping rope 20 minutes a day will make you tired

Tips for being able to jump:
(google this stuff if you don't know what they are)
- Be able to perform a proper squat
- Be able to perform a proper jumping squat (and other plyos)
- Be able to jump up and land on the ground without sounding like a falling boulder....land softly (strong like a bull, silently like a mouse)
- Have good ankle flexibility (dorsiflexion especially)
- Don't squat nor jump from heels of feet (always from area right below ball of feet)

You ever tried those jump shoes? They have a "platform" in the front which is weighted. Look them up. Those are supposed to help a lot. They used to "garantee" a 6" improvement in vertical. I never used them, but I know a couple people who did. They gained a lot in their vert between basketball seasons.

I don't know how the heck I did it but I had a 32" vertical in highschool. I was 5"8 and could have dunked if I could have palmed the b-ball. Dunked mini-balls and soccer balls and stuff all the time just for SAG (****s and giggles)
