Hey, Im new on here just looking for advice with protein shakes.
Im female 29 training for years and just started taking protein shakes monday
How many times a day should I take them
Im running 3 times per week, lifting weights 4 times per week and doing other cardio the other 4 days
Depends on how much protein you get from whole foods.
Whey protein isn't a magical supplement, it's just a type of protein, you can get protein in whole food sources, the reason why many people like whey protein because it's powdered so it's convinient to use.
You should be getting 1 gram of protein per bodyweight.
So if you weight 130 pounds you should get 130 grams of protein.
Eat grilled chicken breasts, lean beef, egg whites, fish etc..
Those are good sources of protein, and they've got around 20-25 grams of protein per 100 grams.
To answer your question,
Take whey twice a day, I'd say once scoop.
1 scoop - 23-24 grams of protein twice daily = around 50 grams of protein.
Get the rest of your protein needs by eating whole foods.
Drink the first protein shake after you wake up, and drink the second one after workout, and try to get some carbs with the protein post-workout if it fits within your diet.
