Hi, just like to introduce myself, Im Mike - 21, and my partner Tiff - 19.

I'll start from the top.
Im 21 years old, 215lbs (97.5 kgs) and 175cm tall.
Tiff is 19 Years old, 186lbs (84.5 kgs) and 163cm tall.

We both got a Gym membership this week to start losing weight together.

What we have been currently doing at the gym (had 3 sessions so far) is Treadmill, Bike, Rowing machine and stepping machine.
With between 10-20 minutes on each machine.

So far we haven't been doing it in any particular order, or for any set time. What we'd like to know is wether there is a particular order to do each exercise in (eg, treadmill first, then rower, then stepper etc) and for how long on each machine.

we'd like to do 20 minutes on each machine, but has anyone got any better advice?

Also, we have started eating healthy.
We want to both be fit by christmas.

Any help will be much appreciated!

Well heres my take on things. Treadmill, Rowing machine and stepping machine are all higher intensity than a stationary bike. There's honestly little reason to switch machines during a single work-out other to stave off boredom. Id say 30-40 mins if you're also doing weight training, or an hour if it's just an aerobic session.

Also with the rowing machine, I stress proper form, keep your back straight instead of pulling back at the end of your stroke. You'll injure your back if you do it improperly.

I'd just like to say I'm the same height as mike, and started a few pounds heavier (218lbs) at the beginning of December. I've dropped about 20 pounds since then, and the work you put into it is definitely worth the confidence you get out of it.

Really? I find that the bike really burns (haha is that the correct term?) my thighs. You can adjust the resistance on the bike, and set programs such as hilly, flat etc. I go for a program that starts off easy-ish slowly gets harder, then slowly gets easier before ending. you can pick how long the program lasts, and you enter weight and height. Also has a heart rate monitor.

Thanks for quick reply.

Doing well by starting what you're doing.

Try HIIT. That will give you better results than just doing say 3 of each types of exercise for 20 mins each of constant speed..

HIIT will lead to greater amounts of weight loss through actually burning more fat and less carbs

The bike puts resistance solely on your legs, so you're gonna feel more "resistance" then a treadmill.

KMH is right that you dont need to a cardio machine hopper. The goal is to increase heart rate, period. If you really want the best results, combine aerobic training with strength training. Perhaps one of the personal trainers at your facility could help, or there are many online trainers.
