Weight-Loss

So if you read my blog or know me, most ppl say i can be a pretty busy person, i just have a feeling its affecting my eating, whether not enough or too much.

NORMAL days (average day)
-Wake up, bike the 6.5 miles to work
-eat a clif bar and drink english breakfast tea or water (i use equal sweetener)
-If i know I will be going to the gym for sure, I eat another clif bar before leaving work at around 2ish, and head to the gym
- I do my hiit routine (20 min worth), then my weights (another 20-30 min)
- For Dinner I get all stumbled, sometimes a salad with chicken from Plutos, sometimes just grilled chicken.. this is really the killer meal, I am having a hard time 'cause I do eat out, i hate cooking for 1, nor do i live in a place that really "encourages" cooking too often, and if i do.. gotta keep it simple.

my question:
Clif bars okay to replace breakfast?
What should I be adding/removing from my diet to really get some lbs. lost?

I know the whole metabolism needs food to keep on going, and i try my best to keep it going...

I'm gonna look for daily menus / recipes from you guys, if anyone has any that fit me and maybe a "college" living lifestyle, share away.

btw:
male, 22, 250lbs. (was 280) hoping to get to 200 by Jan. 1st, 2009.

Thanks!

Cliff bars are not a good replacement for breakfast... real food...

YOu need to start keeping track of your calories -and other nutrients because at first glance -you aren't getting much of anything that your body needs.

Read the stickied threads in this forum and that should clear up some confusion

yea, i read through them last night.. this week has been one of those "revitalizing" so to speak weeks... today i woke up at 5am just hit the gym before work... i seriously lack the motivation to go after.. plus i odn't drive so i ride my bike everywhere, i'm hoping all of this plus a change in diet will def. start showing some better lb. numbers, and maybe some muscle build (weight training is part o fmy gym-routine as i heard it should be)

thanks for the input :)

First of all eat less about 70% full. Eat less carbs like bread and pasta.
And drink water. Helped for me:)

yea i drink tea and i have a jug at work which i fill every morning its the "recommended" amount of h20 to drink per day... so i make sure to finish it before i leave work, or compensate by putting the remainder in my watter bottle which i bike around with.

the water helps 'cause sometimes i think i'm hungry.. but i'm just thirsty, and i heard if u actually drink enough it helps with the cleansing of your system, maybe not detox status but i'm sure it helps clear out junk.

You should also check out the recipe section of the forums. You will find a lot of very good ideas on things to make that are within your food plan.

With that said, add more fruits and veges. I don't eat clif bars but I do eat breakfast type bars. However, I also keep a box of Honey Bunches of Oats at my desk at work so I can have a cup every morning. I also try to have an orange or banana for breakfast but sometimes i run late and miss it. Another good thing to do is plan out your weekly meals. This has helped me stay on track and I can make my breakfast and lunch the night before work to expedite my morning procedure.

...Another good thing to do is plan out your weekly meals. ...
i have actually never thought about doing that, i used to always write down what i ate like tried to be super specific, calorie count galore... but it got so tedious, never though about just planning ahead.. if i plan ahead it would help me be more dilligent with just eating what i set out to eat, no exceptions (assuming my will power doesn't cave in).

thanks! that is gonna be a good one, gotta find a way to implement that idea.

The other thing to think about is when you do plan your meals also make a list of ingrediants for each and only buy that stuff at the supermarket. Stay true to your initial list and don't add things that arent on the list. I had to start doing this to both save money and make sure I do not fall into old habits with food.

so i got paid (finaly) and made a list of meals I would like to eat throughout the week, then went to Lucky's and had at it.

I got my Clif Bars for breakfast
Salad or Cereal for lunch
Fruits, 2 times a day for snacks
and either chicken or beef (grilled) for dinner

I've been trying to calorie count this out, item by item, should have some sort of tally up today still working on all the details I can, and giving myself a 200 calorie up/down margin (and so far its still under 2K calories).

Thanks againf or the tip, I really think I'll stick to it 'cause once i'm done with this i'll be printing it a few times and placing it at work (on my desk), and on my fridge, and on my desktop, etc. etc. lol gonan go crazy to make sure I keep up with it... plus of course letting my friends know so they can ekep me in check.

Anything to help, that's what we're here for.
