Help with losing weight

I posted this in another forum but someone directed me to post here. OK I am 19 years old and I weigh 275 and i am 5'11" but i dont look like im extremely obese, i have muscle but its mainly covered by fat so it doesnt really show much. I just signed up with a local gym here yesterday and i am eating healthy now. My goal weight to achieve would be 220lbs, i dont want to be small, i want to lose the visible fat i do have(chest,waist, stomach and legs mainly) so i look more muscular. My plan is going to consist of doing cardio on elliptical for 60 minutes a day for at least 5 days a week and lift weights for 3 days a week. Also I am beginning to take Hot-Rox. If I do stick with my plan, how long will it be when i start noticing visible changes to my body? How long till I eventually reach my goal of 220lbs in body weight? Also if someone has any suggestions and tips or any workout plan for weight loss and to gain muscle at the same time that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. My goal to look significantly different is july, so 3 months from now and im willing to put forward as much effort as needed, i just need a workout/diet plan that I know will work for sure.
 
For your exercise questions you might want to head over to the 'weight loss through exercise' forum and ask some specific questions there.

I think too lose 55lbs in 3 months is asking a bit much of yourself, around 2lbs weight lost a week is the healthy max, for reasons others here know better then me :)

But if you do lose 2lbs a week between now and july youll still feel tons better about yourself!

Also, it would be worth you working out about how many calories you take in a day. See if its too high or too low for your current weight.
