Sport help with GAINING weight..

Sport Fitness
Hi im new here and this topic has been bothering me for a long time now. Ive seen a lot of things on losing weight (books, tv, internet, etc. etc.) but as weird as this sounds, im trying to GAIN weight. im 22 now and basically all throughout my life i was told it will be a lot easier when i grow up and of course it hasnt.

a little about me, im about 6'3 and 145-150lbs. ive never been able to get passed 150. for my age / height, from what i heard, im supposed to be 170-180? i know its a metabolism thing but id really like to do something that will help me get up there. i was always hesitant about buying those protein shakes but a friend convinced me to buy one because he said it would help. i do try to keep in whatever shape i can by running / freeweights but even with that, i never take the full 3 scoops of that protein shake like it says i should. i just get worried (health wise) because that scooper is huge. the stuff that im talking about is called "GNC Weight Gainer 2200" and "GNC 100% Whey Protein". i take that with a meal after i work out but again its not the full serving like it suggests. do you guys think i should start taking this stuff like im supposed to? or just stop completely?

i can eat food like a pig but i think my body just burns it off way too fast. i play soccer so its not like im trying to get bulky or something, i just want to look good. i also have what they call a "protruding sternum" so that just makes it even worse! LOL. any suggestions (other than kill yourself) would be nice. thanks :biggrinsanta:

Protruding sternum?

You need to make sure you are consuming more calories than you burn each day. Get a rough estimate of how many you burn a day based on your activity level. Then start eating more calories. Go for calorie dense foods with complex carbs and healthy fats. You don't need to go crazy with the calorie counting or the whey supplements. Just make a point of eating more each day.
