I used to be over weight and out of shape. After years of just sort of kinda trying but not really I got serious, hit the weight room, learned real nutrition and am now an ideal weight and in good shape. I've got this down.
My wife used to be the same over weight out of shape as me (we got fat together) and she actually started to lose before I did. At one point she ran a few half marathons and weight lifted.
Now the problem for her is that while she is way down from her high of 170 to about 152 she really wants to be closer to 135 (5'7"). Shes gotten as low as 142 last year but normally starts to creep up again.
Now here is the unusual part. She is having a hard time motivating herself (not unusual) but what does motivate her is something new and complex. When she did weightwatchers that worked for her for about 6 months until the novelty wore off.
She did HCG (inject) which is more scam with calorie restriction than anything else in my opinion but it worked getting her to 142 because she followed the food choices exactly and was worried that going off would make her gain under it (part of the mumbo jumbo). Being a smart girl she just figured it out as a scam with basic extreme calorie restriction and went off the wagon.
Part of her problem is psychological, shes a beautiful woman and has never seen herself as such. We had a long talk last night and she thought a new plan would help her. I think if she got down closer to goal the effect on her body will be such that she won't want to go back to "okish".
But I'm trying to think of ways to help her with a new plan. Oddly she needs it to be MORE complex than just calorie counting. Exercise wise shes doing crossfit 3 times a week and pole fitness one day a week so shes getting enough exercise, shes quite strong really with good muscle.
ANY help on this would be useful. For me I just saw a goal, stuck too it, and it worked. For her she gets to 146 usually and then falls off the wagon.
