Help with a college life

Hello everyone,

I'm a freshman in college, 270 lbs, 5ft 9, desperately trying to lose weight. I'm weight lifting twice a week, and establishing a regular aerobic exercise plan. My problem is that I'm in classes from 6:30 in the morning to 1 in the afternoon, with only very short breaks. One thing I've heard is to eat something healthy every couple of hours. Does anyone have any advice on what to eat when I'm passing from class to class??

Any help will be appreciated.

-Fresh fruit
-Raisins
-Nuts or seeds
-Lean meat/peanut butter sandwich
-Bagged cereal
-Trail mix
-Carrot/celery sticks
-oatmeal/granola bars

These are a few ideas of food you could carry with you and eat between classes. Eating breakfast helps a lot. Good luck!

All-Bran Bars, maybe?

Hi there, I'm in college too. Our teachers let us eat in class, though... or you can always be sneaky. ;)

But seriously, I eat an All-Bran bar every morning for breakfast and I think they're pretty good. They keep me full until a couple of hours later, when I can eat again. And they're fast to eat, not messy or anything.

And, yes... they actually taste good!

I'm in college too. I don't have classes that early though thank goodness! But I do have classes from 9AM until 12:30. I usually have a Zone Bar for breakfast. I actually eat it on my walk to class so that it will stick with me longer. That has been enough to sustain me, but for snacks I would suggest a lot of the things Casey suggested: nuts, fruit-especially apples, they are easy to eat on the go, pretzels, a string cheese, there are a lot of options, just think of some snacky things you like (that are healthy lol) and you can probably bag it and eat it during your 10 min breaks between classes.

Thanks for all of your ideas! It's still early in my plan... we'll see how the weight loss goes! :)
