Basically you need to start reading to start with. Look at all the stickies and read them thoroughly.

Loosing weight is a matter of the energy you are using being more than the ammount you get from the food you eat. It is hard to cover it all but the best thing you can do is have a look at the stickies in the nutrition section.

If you want to get fast google the following

Plyometrics
Power Training
Sprinting

As for running you need to choose a distance that you want to run at whether it is a 100 yard dash or a marathon. Training for running is so broad you need to know how far you want to go.

You cant be a fast sprinter and a good marathon runner its not possible. So choose one whether it is sprinting or long dist. and stick with it.

Start off by working up your base level of cardio vascular fitness.

Search High Intensity Interval Training HIIT
Low intensity steady state LISS

The best thing you can do is read. This forum is good for refining programs etc but as for prescribing a full program from the start is very difficult when you dont know who is sitting on the other side of the net.

So read up get some knowledge under your belt and then make up a routine. I and i think many others will be quite happy to help you out once you have formulated something.

at this point on should not worry about plyos or any reactive training because it is more important to develop strength 1.5-2xbw squat etc...

I was just trying to get the OP started on reading some information about runnning.

Plyometrics can be extremely benificial in the start of a routine also, especially a periodized program.

What distance do you want to participate in on the track team? Do you want to be a sprinter by doing the 100m-400m or do you want to do the longer stuff like the 800m-5k?
