I start my basic training as an infantryman in the british army sometime next year just waiting for my date. Im going to put my workout routine and i'd appreciate it if you could tell me how I could improve it or if it looks good enough to get me on my way to a good overall fitness.

Monday- AM- 5 mile run (7/8min mile pace)
PM- Push and lift class for an hour at the gym- sauna/steam

Tuesday- AM- 5 mile run
PM- 1 mile swim- sauna/steam room

Wednesday- AM- 5 mile run
PM- Circuit Training- sauna/steam room

Thursday- AM- 5 mile run
PM- Push and lift- sauna/steam room

Friday- PM- gym- doing 20,25,30,35,40 press ups and 20,30,40,50,60 sit-ups, crunches on an exercise ball, also pike on the ball. Then I finish off with high effort on the rowing/ergo machine.

Saturday- Rest day

Sunday- 1 mile swim- sauna/steam room

Thank you and will be waiting for any advice that will help me gain in strength, cardio etc

That is a good training program. What are you currently doing? What are you capable of now? Can you run 5 miles at 7/8 minute / mile pace now?

Personally, I don't see any value in sauna, so I would drop that, but that is me.

Yes the most I have been running so far is 7 miles at the above pace, i've been told that if I do one or two tabata runs it should help with how fast I can cover the distance in, any info for that? Thank you.
