Hey there, I can't help you much, I'm pretty new to this myself. But I think your making the best decision to loose your weight at your age, if I could redo one thing in my life, it would be to go back and loose my weight when I was still younger and in school, I was always self-conscious and I basically let it ruin what should have been the best years of my life. I just want to say way to go! Looks like you've already made quite some progress, just keep going. Just out of curiosity, how long did it take to lose those 30 pounds?

at 5'5, and 162lbs that puts your bmi at 27 overweight is between 25-29.9 - the bmi indicator isn't always a good indicator though because it doesn't take into consideration muscle mass...

Age 14 is a great age to start really thinking and acting on eating healthily and exercising and gaining good habits that will take you into adulthood. At your age, your body is still developing and growing, so I urge you to talk to your parents or guardians about getting proper nutrition - and not cutting your calories too low.

The entire family getting involved in exercise and eating right will benefit everyone.

If your looking for motivation then you have come to the right forum. I will pm you and give you tips on what has helped me lose weight so far. And remember lose ther weight for yourself not for the satisfaction of others.

Becky, the motivation has to come from within YOU. Sure, people here and elsewhere can support you. But it's like gently blowing an ember into a full flame - you have to be the ember; a forum like this is no more than a fan blowing it into life.

You don't have a huge amount to lose, but the real question is this. Do you want the way you are now to define you the rest of your life, or do you envision something very different for yourself? If it's the latter, then this is a great age to start.

Kids your age are surrounded with crappy messages about food and health. You are bombarded thousands of times a day with everything from the idea that only bone thin people are healthy to the pressure to eat french fries and soda pop.

The nice thing about your age is that you have an enormous capacity for knowledge. You CAN educate yourself about what is healthy, both in terms of food and exercise, and you CAN start a new way of living right now. To help you get started, I highly recommend you take a look at some great information in this Index of WLF "Keepers".
