Hey there everyone. My name is Casey and I am a 25 year old guy who is trying to get into better shape and health. I have been going to the gym for only 3 weeks but I've already realized that I'm going to have a hard time when it comes to the upper body. I'm having a hard time with the bench press. Please share any ideals or tips on how to get a grip on it. Also any tips or advice on how to lose body fat as I am borderline obese.. Thank you in advance.

What do you mean by having a hard time with the bench press? Is there any pain while you do the exercise or is it that you are unable to lift heavy weights?

For your weight loss I recommend that you follow these tips:

1- Decrease you calorie intake by 500 calories daily (calorie decrease should come from sweets, unhealthy fats, and wheat).
2- Eat 5 to 6 meals a day (3 main meals and 2 snacks).
3- Decrease your consumption of sugary stuff as much as possible. The less the better.
4- Do 4 weight training sessions a week. Weight training build your muscles which is your best friend when it comes to weight loss. Concentrate on movements that involve multiple muscles, these will help you build muscles and lose weight.
5- Do HIIT exercises. High Intensity Interval training is a cardio training where you make short intense training bursts followed by slow intensity periods. This has shown to burn more calories than regular cardio training.

What part of bench press are you having trouble with? What kind of bench press are you doing? I would recommend starting with really low weight to get your form down and then adding weight gradually.

Thank the both of you for replying. I am sorry it has taken me so long to reply myself but I forgot my password. I'm getting the hang of the bench press nowadays and am seeing slight improvements. Should I focus on weights and cardio on different days? Any good beginners tips so I will get the most out of my time in the gym. I usually try to go 5 days a week

Just a question here, but can you get a personal trainer
