Sport help me understand something....

Sport Fitness
I have been sitting here thinking something for the last few days and thought i would ask. What would be the harm in eating a good amount of food that had very few calories. Like lets say I ate 2 dozen egg whites and a bag of salad every day over the course of 2 weeks. I know I would be starving my body of calories...but I wouldn't go hungry (if that makes any sense?)

24 egg whites has less than 300 calories, and a bag of salad im not sure, maybe 100? That only adds up to 400 calories, but if you think about it that is a good amount of food to consume in a day. Would my metabolism (at first) slow down and then stop....(and then probably other vitals?)

Just looking to throw a wrench in the equation...why does your body need so many calories if you can eat healthy foods (and lots of them) to sustain your hunger?

You would lose a boat load of lean tissue as your body would not have an energy source i.e. fat/carb to pull from.

I basically had some idea of the answer, i just wanted some extra input. What has worked best with me has been keeping my body guessing. I try to vary up meals and times and quantities, it seems to keep my body in weightloss mode. Do you think experimenting with this for a couple of days would cause more harm then good. Say I did this for three days and then went back up to around 2k cals for a couple days and then alternate single days, ect....

Yup, it's a total backward move.

Try a cheat meal or up'ing your fat intake and lowering carb intake for the next couple days. Nothing too dramatic though.

keeping the body guessing in regards to diet, isn't wise. the body wants to see a 'general trend' in food intake before it makes decisions on burning fat, burning muscle, storing fat, or building muscle...or just staying the same.

Gosh, Malkore. I believe this is the second post I've seen by you today where you take the words right out of my mouth. I ditto what Malkore said!
