Hello - I'm 33 years old, 6'1" inches tall and current stuck at 240 lbs. My wife and I started our weight loss journey about a year ago. My wife has been very successful and has lost about 100 lbs and she looks great. However, I started at 285 and have only lost 45 lbs. I'm eating 2200 calories or less daily and my weekly workouts consist of 4 cardio sessions in which I do high intensity speed intervals (running one minute, walking one minute) and 3 days of weight training. Don't get me wrong, my body is changing. I'm getting stronger and my cardio endurance is far beyond where I started but I still have more goals to achieve.

I'm burning 800-1000 calories each cardio session and am stuck at 245 lbs. No matter what I eat or do in the gym will allow my body to get lower then 245 lbs. It's very frustrating but I'm dedicated and will continue until I figure this out. My goal is to get to 210 lbs. It's so close yet so far.

I would appreciate any advise that any of you could share with me.

Any supplements I should try?
Any suggestions, from anyone?

Thanks, I appreciate it.

Hey! First of all, don't say *only 45 lbs*! That is a phenomenal feat! Congrats on the weight loss!!

I am so not an expert, but the recurring advice that I would hear about a situation such as yours is that you are not eating enough. You need 2400 calories at your weight just to be alive. Burning 800 to 1000 calories on top of that puts you in WAY to much of a deficit, imo. Try to bump up your calories a little at a time and see if that helps. OR, if you are not quite comfortable with that, consider a weekly cheat meal/ cheat day.

One day a week (or every two weeks, whatever you're comfortable with) eat above your maintenance calories. For you, that would be eating an EXTRA 1000 to 1500 calories a day. Some people swear by it! You'll initially gain a couple of pounds of water weight--but it will leave in a day or two.
If THAT doesn't work, google carb cycling and have a look at that-- I won't go into detail here about it, but that might jump start your weight loss as well.

On the other side of the coin...how are you judging your calorie burn in the gym? Machines can be off by as much as 80% with what they quote as calories burned. Keep that in mind!

Okay, sorry for the sporadic advice! Good luck. Again, congrats! Don't get discouraged--you are headed in the right direction and WILL get there!

ETA: 45 lbs in a year is JUST ABOUT a lb a week. That is EXCELLENT! And the perfect speed to lose weight so that you can maintain the weight loss and the new lifestyle!

I used a diet system, which consists nutrition log and exercise log. I can calculate the calories consumed and calories burned. You can read more on spam. Hope you`ll find it interesting and helpful as well.
