help im gaining weight

hi everybody

just wondering if anybody can help me im female and 200lbs and 5'5 i used to eat loadza takeways junk food e.g pasties donner kebabs pizza burgers chips i used to eat this type of food everyday but know ive decided its about time i do something about my weight for my health and confidence so ive completed changed what i eat and no longer eat any of the above foods i have mentioned but i have found even tho im eating healthy foods (as far as i no what im eating is healthy) im putting on weight so im gonna tell u what i eat in a average day and she if any of u guys can help me out of tell me where u think i might be going wrong so here goes...

8 am breakfast- bowl of cheerios with semi skimmed milk

11am mid morning snack orange and kiwi

2pm lunch meal replacement shake or a salad

5.30pm dinner- grilled skinless chicken breast sweetcorn broccolli with jacket potato.

if i am hungry of a evening i will have a piece of fruit.

so if anybody can help me by tellin me how im going wrong that would be great thx :) oh yeah and i have been eating like this for 2 weeks so far
 
Have you been having any snacks in between meals? Even just a bite or two? Also have you logged the calories, carbs and fat on fitday.com or something like it? How much have you been exercising?

It may be that you are actually getting more calories than you think you are. If not, then it may be something else.
 
hi thanx for replying i have been writing down everyday what i eat and the calories on the back of the pack for the portion im eating if it does tell me on the back of the pack i normally search the calorie content for the amount im eating of sumthing on google. i worked out that im eating between 1300 and 1500 cals aday i sumtimes have a snack in between meals but it will only be a piece of fruit or sum celery (i love the stuff lol) carrots etc ...the only exercise i do is walking i walk everywhere instead of taking the buses walk both my dogs etc.. i no i need to start doing exercise i am just curious as to y im gaining the weight now i have changed my diet as before it was terrible and i was a complete couch potato.
 
i drink about 4-5 pints aday as i never seem to be thirsty so kinda av to make myself drink. and no i dont measure my foods just go by portion size on the back of packs so like if its chicken and it says per piece is so many calories i kinda just take there word for it.
 
Try adding weights to your workouts.



You may also need to have your thyroid checked. I went many months exercising like crazy and only having 1500 calories a day and didn't lose anything. Just recently I found out from the doc that I have hypothyroidism and am on synthroid. This may be your problem also. It's worth a shot to have it checked.
 
oh no dont say that i hate doctors lol ....no seriously thanx for your replys they have been very helpful gonna add in more exercise and if nothing changes i will face my fears and go to the doctors (i had never really thought there mite be a problem just thought it was me doing sumthin wrong ) anyways thanx again and good luck in the future :)

Definitely try adding weights. Also, watch your calories and cycle them a bit. This will ensure that you don't go into starvation mode and store fat rather than burn it. Good luck.
