So March of 2013 I started on my journey of weight loss. I am 43 and have been battling it all my life. I am a diabetic and I was 300 lbs last March. I lost 75lbs from March to December by basically eating small amounts of food and walking. I walk around 3 miles a day. I attached before and after photos. So since December I have basically maintained my weight of 225. I can't seem to lose anymore. i ahave tried eating less and I still walk. I am also dealing with anxiety issues, which seem to have come to the forefront since I have loast all this weight.

The good news is, I went from 8 pills a day down to 3, my blood work is perfect. The bad news is I now dealing menatlly with, do I like good enough now, how do I lose more weight as quick as I did, do I just worry about maintaing it, which I seems like I can do. I don't have anyone I can talk to about this all, I don't really know anyone well enough to be able to talk to them about such perosnal issues.

So before I drive myself crazy. I guess I am looking for some advice. If anyone know of a person I can speak to even on the phone, please let me know.

I do know now why people who get the weight loss surgery go through counseling before and after. Losing this much weight does take a toll mentally.

Thanks or anyone who reads this.

The closer to your ideal weight you are, the harder it is to come off. Have you tried using a calorie counter? Although you've cut back, unless you're actually measuring and counting every thing that goes into your mouth, you can't be sure. Did you know that two TEASPOONS of butter is 70 calories? It's insane! I used to toss a couple tablespoons of that stuff into my vegetables. My point is that, when it comes to losing weight by numbers, you need to be as accurate as possible.

The same goes for exercise. You can't do the same exercise, lose weight, and expect the same results. You have to push yourself to see results. If walking is not doing it for you, try jogging, or walking with an incline (uphill, or trails).

If you're having mental setbacks you may want to talk with your doctor or a therapist. The internet is full of all sorts of people, but we can only give you gentle support. If you feel that you need someone to talk to it's best to reach out to your family, friends, or doctor. Don't second guess yourself. Losing 75lb is an accomplishment and you should feel proud. Take what you've learned, stay positive, and keep going. We all hit that wall eventually, you just have to break through and get past it.

I recommend making a food log, looking at the rest of the forum, and forcing yourself to remain positive.

Good luck :)

I have a few suggestions for you first research everything you can about your current nutrition versus your recommended nutrietion and adapt to it.

second I suggest experimenting with all the exercises you are capable of doing and I mean something that you make you sweat.

thirdly I suggest you develop a strong mindset focus your mental attention on the positive at all times even in your worst situations. successful people always focus on the positive they mess up they focus on what went wrong then focused on the positive change they have to make.

Create your goal visualize everyday what you look like in the end. you have achieved your goal and you feel amazing. you can even help others break through there barriers just like you have you have made a positive change for the world etc.

watch motivational videos everyday. you can say to yourself I am going to get healthy or I am going to die trying.

Achieving the end result will take time but stick with it my friend.

Hi Tony,

You don't need surgery and you don't need to do anything crazy to lose this weight. I weighed just about what you do now (when you wrote this anyway) for a long time. I now weigh 170 and I never ever gain weight. I also never exercise. I also do not count calories for one second of my day, and I 100% eat all of the "fatty" foods that I want to.

Fat has never made any person fat. That information is a total mistake. Our body can not live without fat. It is insanity to me that medical experts tell us to avoid fat when it is essential to LIFE! Just like it is crazy that experts say to avoid salt, which the human body will literally die without....pure insanity.

Your problem is sugar, but I bet you don't eat a lot, or any sweets, right? If you are diabetic and trying to lose weight you are likely watching the ice cream and coke and that kind of thing...or hopefully you are anyway.

But you may be eating other foods that you have been told are healthy.

All foods have sugar. Go look in your fridge and your cupboards. Here is a VERY SHORT list of foods that I think most people think are healthy, because they have been told they are. I know I used to eat these foods. And I never ever lost weight.

I counted calories
I ran several miles a week. I did the "Couch to 5k" program where in 6 weeks you run 3 miles without stopping. It takes quite a bit of exercise to get to that point. I lifted weights. I used the elliptical machines. I had a gym in the neighborhood I lived at so working out was really easy at that time for me.

I never ever lost weight. When I started the couch to 5k program I weighed 230 and when I was able to actually run a 5k distance I weighed 230 still. I think for a while I got to 224 but that was really short lived.

Anyway, here are some "healthy" foods that have added sugar. Some of these have a LOT in there.

SKIM Milk = 12 grams of sugar per 1 cup, or 3 teaspoons
Lean pockets = 7 grams per pocket
Yoplait "light" yogurt (this junk is Weight Watchers ENDORSED!) = 10 GRAMS of sugar in 1 tiny cup or about 2.5 teaspoons

Sugar is in your ketchup and mayo. Have any light salad dressing? It's in there. It's in the regular dressing too. It's in the ice cream and it's in the fat free ice cream. If you are eating food that comes in a package you are eating sugar!

I will give you the key to better health and weight loss below. I am so tired of seeing people try and try and fail and it's all because of added sugar hidden in our food. Really quick though, I want to tell you how much is recommended daily.

The World Health Organization AND the American Heart Association both agree that the MAXIMUM amount of daily sugar that should be consumed by any person is 25 grams for a woman and I think it's 30 grams for a man. That is approximately 6 - 7 teaspoons...total.

If you ate a breakfast of 1 Yoplait light yogurt, 1 cup of Honey Nut Cheerios and 1 cup of skim milk, you would consume 31 grams of sugar. That is just about 8 teaspoons...and it's still breakfast. You would be over for the day, with so much sugar left hiding in your remaining food.

It's not calories. It's sugar. You will do yourself a WORLD of good if you never again count a single calorie and focus on sugar. If you see sugar in your food, do not eat it. If you do this you WILL lose weight. I've done it and so did my wife and so many other people.

Ok, these things below are the "hidden secret" to weight loss. You don't need surgery, pills, potions, workout equipment, fruit extract or any other scam on TV. You just need to do these very simple things.

1) Avoid sugar - Read EVERY label before you eat. If it "must" be healthy, it probably isn't.

2) Eat whole foods - You can absolutely get a snow shovel and shove as many vegetables and healthy fats into you and you will never gain weight. You will be full and satisfied and you will feel great in a short amount of time.

2) Eat FAT! - Avocados and cashews and real butter are on the menu!

Do you know what I have at night, probably 3 nights a week or more? I have a piece of toast, with coconut oil or butter on it, with some cashew butter or natural peanut butter (the Jiffy junk has sugar, so you want the label to say "Peanuts, Salt" only) with some banana slices on it.

It's an amazing snack, and like a true miracle I never gain weight. That's because its' not fat that makes you fat, it's sugar and these foods are fine. Bread has sugar too, so you do want a good "sprouted grain" bread because typically those will be minus the added sugar.

Oh. I am not talking about "carbs" here! Carbs are not the enemy! The word you are looking for on the left side of the label is SUGAR! Also, don't be fooled by "organic sugar" or "agave" or "beet sugar" or any other name...it's all terrible.

That's it. That IS the secret to weight loss. Try it for 1 week if you are skeptical. Cut out 100% of sugar for 1 week and add in a ton of vegetables and healthy fats and check your scale at the end of the week.

Oh...here is my and my wife, so that you know I am 100% a real human :)

Tony, from my own experience I have struggled with my weight since 2012 (I mean of course loosing them, cos I was obese since 2000), till now I lost about 40 kg I can say exercises didn`t helped me in that, only eating less, it`s cruicial. Try to find the tv show with Michael Mosley, he showed great example how you can lose weight without too big effort, I mean without exercises and without eating low each day, it really works and what is also important it`s proved by scientists. I have choosed the way of eating every other day but in a day of fasting doesn`t mean you can`t eat anything, you can eat at max 25% of your daily calorie limit, the next day you eat as usuall, everything you want. He proved the people who using this technique lost a lot more weight than those who limit their calories every day, and what is also very important they have made a lab tests and their results were incredible :), try to find on youtube this "Michael Mosley" - intermitent fasting. It`s really eye opening.

Of course exercises are important, but they are not play cruicial role in loosing weight, just try to count how many hours you should walk, or run, or swim to lose 1 kg of fat ((:) you will be shocked, I swim (for health purposes only) and I counted I have to swim for 20-23 hours to lose 1 kg of fat, it`s INSANE !

So doing exercises lets say even every day for 1 hour you need 20 days to lose 1 kg, in my opinion it`s waste of time and motivation, you will get a lot better and faster results by using intermittent fasting, the beauty of this is - the next day you can eat everything you want, you just must watch this what they are talking about and what scientist proved, it`s really incredible and very eye opening belive me I watched that on BBC Knowledge, Mosley is an British medical journalist he went to US and meet several interesting scientists and use their teqhniques on himself, made a bloodtests etc. it`s really big thing, it completely changed my thinking about that problem.
