Its all about what you eat. I'm using my fitness pal too but I'm eating around 1000 a day.
Personally, I love eggs but never really liked the yellow bit. So, in the morning, I'd have two boiled egg whites (about 50kcal) and a slice of wholemeal toast with butter (about 120kcal) and that keeps me going for awhile cos they are high protein foods.
I snack on rice cakes during the day and oil-popped popcorn as night.
I weigh everything, am always drink water.
My dinner normally consists of a chicken breast and 60gms (uncooked) wholemeal rice with a load of spice, this is still only around 400-450 cals.
I also will have half a tin of spaghetti and 2 slices of wholemeal toast (no butter) for lunch sometimes (280cals altogether)
It's all a matter of chosing foods that will fill you, eating regularly and drinking water throughout the day. I have a litre bottle with me at all times!
