Hi. I am an 18 year old girl standing at 5 feet and cannot . I weigh 174 pounds. I have played soccer my entire life. I was captain of my travel team and for my high school varsity team. I've run cross country and track. I have played basketball. What I'm trying to say is exercising isn't the problem for me. Now that I'm in college and don't play as many sports, I go to the gym almost every day (not Sunday) for and hour to an hour and fifteen minutes. I haven't drank soda since 8th grade. I drink water with the occasional citrus green tea. If I eat grains, they all wheat. I eat fruit, meat, and veggies. My snack is almonds and peanut butter. Of course sometimes I slip up and have a slice of pizza or a cookie but not nearly as much as I have before I started a healthier living. Despite all this I have lost only 5 pounds since I came to college which was a little over 3 months ago. I honestly don't know what else I could do. I could really use some advice. Please and thank you!

Hi,

I completely understand your journey. I have lost 22lbs and before I started my weight loss program, I would go to the gym but had a bad diet. From the looks you are eating healthy meals, maybe its the portion size, perhaps
? I normally drink my natural meal replacement in the morning which has protein and all the vitamins and nutrients, 3 hrs later a have a snack and 2 hrs later I have my lunch and again 3hrs later snacks and dinner I will not consume carbs. I lost 14lbs the first month and now I am just maintaining my weight.

Hi,

first of all - don't worry about not having lost more than those 5 pounds! What's important is that you HAVE lost some weight, so you are on the right track. Weight loss is a long process, and especially figuring what works for you can take a while. It seems like you are doing most things right and just need to tweak them to make them work for you. I have two questions for you before going into more detail:

1) What kind of workouts do you do in the gym, and how intense are they?

2) What kind of foods do you eat that have a high carbohydrate content, and can you be more specific about how often and how much (e.g. rice, pasta, potatoes, bread, etc.)?

Congratulations on your healthier living and on losing 5 pounds.

My advice would be to keep going and lower your calorie intake by a bit if you think you've been stuck at the same weight for too long. Using a calorie counter (if you're not already) can help you be sure you're not actually eating more than you realize.

Setting smaller goals, and rewards for those goals. Even being able to set goals not pertaining to weight. Such as: trying a new vegetable every day for a week.

Congratulations for loosing 5 pound you on track. I have a few suggestions that could help you. you say you are exercising and eating healthy so that brilliant. you say you Cannot Lose Weight which could be mental program your running in your subconscious mind that's stopping you . this probably developed when you were a child. when we are babies we start out knowing nothing so slowly but surly through repetition we absorb information and ideas that sink down into our subconscious mind that basically run our life. for example the English language you speak and the things like walking and talking that happen so naturally. through repetition you obtain these programs. most of the times we turn out a lot like our parents through subconscious mind programing. your parents might of been obese or someone might of repeatedly said to you are fat. the problem is that no matter how much you consciously think I need to lose weight you cant because your programed to gain weight because of your programing. also we mentally talk negatively to ourselves on a daily basis usually the same thing everyday and through repetition we then make that though a reality because you have programmed your self through repetition. so what I suggest for you is to

1. Create a big motivational goal then put to on a dream board. then brake the goal down into small achievable goals. then create affirmations like. I AM HEALTHY. I AM FIT. EVERYONE DISIRES MY BODY. I AM BEUTIFULL. I LOOK IN THE MIRROR AND I LOVE MYSELF. Then read these and look at your dream board everyday at least 100-200 times a day REMEMBER its the repetition that changes you.

2.Throughout you day say to yourself your affirmations. important note don't include obese of fat in your affirmations instead include slim, healthy, the qualities you want instead of the current now.

3.Keep taking massive action like eating the best you can and exercising the best you can.

4.Go to youtube type in weight loss hypnosis and listen to a video at least twice a day morning then evening. hypnosis does work and It will change your subconscious programing through repetition.

5.Watch motivational videos on youtube.

remember this takes a long time maybe years you cannot get away from this but stick with it and you will have a greater chance of achieving you goal. best of luck

Trust me, I want to tell you that you are not alone in the slow weight loss progress. I had trouble with losing weight too, doing exactly the same things you are. I struggled for two years, and eventually settled at the weight I was. That was until I found out about challenge groups from beachbody. WHICH, was something I thought I would never do, as they have a lot of gimmicks and stuff out there. Let me tell you, I'm GLAD I decided to join anyways, since I am weighing less than I did in High School!

I really think its about finding what is right for you and your body, it just takes A LOT of patience...since there are some people out there who can drop weight really easy! It can be frustrating.

Anyways, if you're interested in joining a challenge group with me, I am a member of one that starts in July...if you want a partner in all of this? Message me and let me know. You can do this and it's going to happen for you because you are doing everything right!
