Oral Allergy Syndrome is a condition that causes inflammation/irritation, itchiness, and puffiness of the mouth and trachea when an individual consumes fresh(unprocessed) fruits and/or vegetables. It often stems from allergies to naturally occurring pollen and other environmental containments. It cannot be worked around by simply rinsing the food. More information can be found here:

I am a freshman in College, and I have been diagnosed with allergies to almost every sort of pollen, mold, grass, weed, pretty much everything outside. I have not been to my doctor to ask about OAS, but I exhibit all the symptoms when consuming fresh fruits or vegetables.

The problem I am facing is trying to eat healthy and have good nutrition. The dining hall does not offer the healthiest foods, and I feel like I can't eat from its selection of fruits and vegetable because of triggering one of these allergic episodes.

My question is does anyone have any advice for how to have a balanced diet with these types of conditions? I do not have access to a stove or oven, I simply have a microwave and a fridge.

Before giving advice to you, I think it's best to see a doctor and make sure this is what you have. You never know. You may have something very similar to this disorder but milder and easier to treat/cure. But if it turns out that you do have it, then s/he'll give you the allergy shot for it which is suppose to reduce or eliminate OAS.
I've done this myself in the past but it isn't really wise to diagnose yourself.

Sorry if that wasn't much help.:angelsad2:

llcryptik: How well did the allergy shot work for you? I know nothing about allergy shots. Thanks!
