Help first comp.

Hi everyone,
I am not sure if I am writing in the right area, but I have a question. I am trying to train for a figure comp that is coming up in Sept. Even though I know how to workout and be generally healthy, I feel lost and completely overwhelmed by this new world. Any advice? :)

You mean a bodybuilding competition in the womans figure catagory?

if your serious they you should buy a book there are plenty out there.

google or amazon - female bodybuilding, or womans fitness/weight training.

Basicly, you gotta build as much muscle as pos, the fat will easily drop off, worry about loosing fat 2-3 months prior.

Thx for the response. It is actually in fitness. I am not a body builder. I have been a Ballet dancer my whole life and into fitness as well. I have always done endurance type sports but nothing like this. I have decent muscle, but would like to work on leaner looking muscle. I have read many different theory's and practices, but I feel experience speaks volumes and thought maybe someone who has been through the whole process could offer some words of wisdom. I have the basic concept of what to do, but looking for suggestions. Thx again:)

It's hard to help with such a general goal, it seems like you want to be educated on the entire field. Which, in that case, I would agree with mok and advise you to check out a few books from the library. If you have any specific questions I (along with others) would be glad to help.

I'd seek out a mentor that you can get some tips from pretty quickly. The net is good but will never replace a coach (face to face) for someone in your situation. You'll need coaching on posing 'specially.

Thx for the added advice. Sorry my question was so general. I will try to be more specific. I have tried looking for a coach/trainer in this field. I live in the bayarea of Califorina, and I am having a hard time finding someone. Even though people here like to stay fit, the fitness community is pretty small. I have tried search engines, my gym, ect. Does anyone know of a good place to look? Thx again.

You might google California figure competitors and see if you can't find someone who competes locally. Send them an email with your concerns and you should be onyour way.

Thx, I will try that. I was also wondering about sugarless gum. I was told not to chew it because the calories add up quickly and the saliva production causes bloating. It really helps when I am dieting, but am I hurting my diet?
