Hi, I'm Pumpkin and I'm 33 years old. I'm married to my (almost) high school sweetheart with an almost 6 year old daughter. I'm also morbidly obese.
I had a very serious health scare back in August. I almost died.
I went into the hospital with shortness of breath, racing pulse, and inability to walk more than 3 feet without collapsing. My oxygen saturation level was 74% and my heart rate was 140 bpm.
I couldn't fit in the hospitals CT scanner so I was transported by ambulance to another nearby hospital. I ended up being admitted for 11 days.
I had ultrasounds of my legs and heart done, blood draws every 6 hours, a CT scan, an echocardiogram, and I participated in a sleep study. At 510 lbs, I broke my body. I have fairly large pulmonary emboli in both lungs, pulmonary hypertension, sleep apnea, lymphedema, and acute right sided heart failure. I'm also bipolar depressive with anxiety.
When I was discharged from the hospital, my family and I moved into my parents house so they can help care for me and my daughter while my husband is at work.
My visiting nurses have all discharged me from home care and I just joined an aquatic fitness center. I've lost 49 lbs in the last 2 months and I'm moving in the right direction. I just need more support now that I'm "on my own" through this journey.
So that's a ton of information but HELLO! I'm happy to be here.
